Game Preview: Celtics host Raptors

With the Big Four (yup, it's now four) likely down to one, the Celtics will need a lot out of Ray Allen tonight. (AP Photo/Jessica Hill)

Boston Celtics vs. Toronto Raptors
7:30 pm

TD Bank Garden

Game Notes

  • Injured Celtics- Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo (highly unlikely)
  • Injured Raptors- Hedo Turkoglu (doubtful), Jose Calderon, Reggie Evans
  • Celtics are on a 3-game losing streak
  • Raptors are on a 5-game winning streak

Keys to the game

  • Ray Allen- Only remaining healthy member of The Big Three, needs to have a big game for the C’s.
  • Rasheed Wallace vs. Chris Bosh- Bosh (23.8 pts, 11.3 rebs) has been fantastic for the Raptors, and the Celtics could struggle to guard the versatile big man.
  • Defense- The Raptors have the worst defense in the league, and struggle to stop their opponents, while the Celtics defense has not been good since the injuries to KG and Pierce.

Projected Starting Lineups:

Boston Celtics

  1. PG- Tony Allen
  2. SG- Ray Allen
  3. SF- J.R. Giddens
  4. PF- Rasheed Wallace
  5. C- Kendrick Perkins

Toronto Raptors

  1. PG- Jarrett Jack
  2. SG- DeMar Derozan
  3. SF- Antoine Wright
  4. PF- Chris Bosh
  5. C- Andrea Bargnani

Sorry man, I don’t see it happening just yet. It’s a mess right now.

At least we’ll get to see some of the bench get some more burn. I’d like to see a lot of Bill Walker. The Celtic fan nation has really hyped him up to me to be honest ;)

I know, but recently it seems like Giddens has been the one getting more and more recognition from Doc. We’ll see how it all works out… I hope we see all the young guys.

It probably will be 4 in a row.

Shouldn’t Ray play the point, JR play the two and TA play the 3? I don’t trust TA handling the ball in the least bit.

I agree with you on that one. I’d rather see TA off the ball with Ray handling it, but Doc has started TA at pg. At the very least, it should be interesting to see how many turnovers he can accumulate.
