Wow, can’t say I saw this one coming. A few days after seeing the first significant action of his playing career, the Globe reports Lester Hudson has been waived by the Boston Celtics.

In a rather shocking move, the Celtics waived guard Lester Hudson just before the deadline that the team had to guarantee his contract for the rest of the season, Hudson participated in the team’s shootaround this morning and I talked to him about his contract and he had no idea whether his deal was guaranteed or whether he would be waived.

If Hudson clears waivers (and I’m assuming he will), he will be eligible to sign a 10-day contract with the Celts.

As a sign of just how cold-hearted the NBA can be, the team had Hudson travel to Miami and participate in the team’s morning workout, then waived him right after.

Does this mean the Celtics are looking to fill his roster spot?  Or merely that they didn’t want him around long enough to guarantee the full term of his contract (which would have happened after today)? 

I’m not sure.  I guess we’ll find out in the coming days.
