Marquis Daniels could be back sooner than expected

After playing 43 minutes last night, Paul Pierce will be happy to have his reliable backup back in the lineup.

Originally, Marquis Daniels was expected to return to the Celtics after the All-Star break.  Now, it could be sooner.

Daniels told the Herald about his return, “Maybe before [the All-Star break]. It all depends. When I go back and get this [cast] removed again, I hope everything will be good. It’s healing real good.”

Daniels, whose playmaking, defensive ability, and unselfish play have been missed by Boston’s second unit, said he’s been in good spirits despite the injury.

“It’s great to be on a good team. If you’re on a bad team, it usually goes the other way. But we’ve got a bunch of comedians around here, so it keeps your spirits up.”

This would be GREAT news for the C’s. Pierce will never be able to get the rest he needs/deserves with Daniels out and you know Doc refuses to rely on Giddens and Walker to back him up. I also WISH he would stop relying on Tony Allen.

Agreed that it would be great news, but I think Tony Allen has really started to play well. In the past, I was right there with you on the “Bash TA” bandwagon (standing room only)… but this year TA has actually played within himself for the most part.
