Throwing some dimes: Still reveling in the alley-oop

Once in a while, someone else’s article catches my eye. Sometimes, it’s because the article is so spot-on I wish I’d written it myself. Other times, it’s because the article enlightens me with something I never knew. Still other times, it’s because I disagree with whatever’s written. No matter what the reason, I dish it off to another writer to make his/her point. You know, throwing some dimes.

Thank you, Rajon Rondo. (And you, Mr. Truth.) (AP photo/Wilfredo Lee)

1. Red’s Army breaks down the game-tying alley-oop

As great as that alley-oop play was… it was defended pretty poorly by the Heat. Maybe they were too preoccupied with the prospect of a game winning jumper… but they still could have defended a potential jumper while not allowing a clean look at an alley oop.

2. CelticsBlog’s Jeff Clark writes last night’s game mirrored the summer of 2007.

Then came the stomach punch. Normally reliable Ray Allen slipped, Wade grabbed the steal and took it down the court for a dunk. Game over right? I slumped in my chair and announced to my wife that the Celtics lost in dramatic fashion and explained the play to her. (She just nodded with a look of half interested pity.) Dwayne Wade ran down the court pulling his shirt over and pounding his chest but it was the C’s fans that felt the pain in their torso. Not unlike the feeling of watching the NBA guy pull the Celtics logo out of the number 5 envelope.

3. Celtics Hub investigates how the Celtics managed just one assist over a 16-minute span to begin the second quarter.

4. SLAM’s Marcel Mutoni gives my favorite analysis of the Gilbert Arenas suspension yet… and there is a report surfacing that there might be surveillance video of the incident.

5. North Station Sports’ Graham Brunell discusses Paul Pierce, a superstar with heart.
