A Red Claw Is Called Up
According to the Maine Red Claws Twitter account, Mario West has signed a 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks. His destination is no surprise, as from 2007-2009 West played 117 games with the Hawks in two seasons. West had been averaging 13.7 points and 4 assists in 11 games this season with the Red Claws, making him the second-highest scorer on the Claws after Gilder. This is the first Gatorade Call-Up in the history of the Maine Red Claws.
Now, of course, the Red Claws will have to find a way to fill the hole left by his departure. While it’s too late to help with tonight’s 7PM game against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, another roster move before Friday’s match-up against the Springfield Armor wouldn’t be a surprise.
West is expected to join the Hawks today and be available for tomorrow’s tip-off against the Washington Wizards.
