Johnson, remembered by Larry Bird as his greatest teammate ever, has a worthy case for the Hall:
Three NBA titles (1979, 1984, 1986)
NBA Finals MVP (1979)
All-NBA First Team (1981)
All-NBA Second Team (1980)
Six-Time NBA All-Defensive First Team (1979-1983, 1987)
Three-Time NBA All-Defensive Second Team (1984-1986)
Five-Time NBA All-Star (1979-1982, 1985)
His wife, Donna, said, “Dennis gave his life to two things, family and basketball, and even though he isn’t here today, I believe he would be touched and grateful to everyone who still want his memory and legacy remembered.
Thank you everyone for the love and support.”
To me, it’s sad Johnson — who passed away from a heart attack at only 52 years old — will never get the chance to see his own plaque in Springfield, MA. But there’s still time for Johnson to receive a spot in Springfield among the game’s greats.
As a gritty player willing to do whatever it took to help his team win, Johnson deserves that spot.

Good article, I completely agree. They try too hard to put people in the mix of the whole experience, and expect the athletes and coaches to change their ways. It is completely NBC’s fault, but I’ve seen every network do it lately. NFL network thanksgiving game anyone? I truly hope Bud Keene doesn’t apologize, and blames NBC as well. People also need to stop being so touc
