CelticsBlog recently asked its readers to nominate some nicknames for Glen Davis.  (Frankly, Uno Uno just wasn’t going to work. We all love Chad Ochocinco — or we all hate Chad Ochocinco… one or the other — but his misguided Spanish doesn’t really work for everybody.)

The responses were then cut down to eight nominations, and CelticsBlog’s Jimmy Toscano asked Davis which of the finalists was his favorite nickname.  The former Big Baby chose “The Eleventh Hour” out of the following finalists.

• Big Easy
• Big Once (pronounced ohn-say)
• The Tank
• Sweet Feet
• The Body
• The Bayou Banger
• Big Dig
• The Eleventh Hour

So what exactly does “The Eleventh Hour” mean?

That, I’m not quite sure. Maybe it’s because he waited until The Eleventh Hour of the preseason to punch his buddy in the face and get injured. Maybe The Eleventh Hour is a suggestion for Davis’ curfew, since staying out past then has gotten him into trouble. Maybe it’s because The Eleventh Hour of the p.m. is when he likes to go grab a nighttime snack.

Whatever it means, it’s Davis’ new nickname. And it’s a lot better than Uno Uno.
