Boston Celtics Paul Pierce and Bill Walker have been invited to participate in next weekend’s All-Star festivities, according to the Boston Globe and ESPNBoston. Pierce was chosen for the NBA three-point contest, and Walker the D-League dunk contest.
Due to extenuating circumstances, Walker may have to miss the contest. According to ESPNBoston’s Chris Forsberg, league rules state that Walker, currently an active member of the Celtics, would have to be assigned to the Maine Red Claws — Boston’s D-League affiliate — in order to try his hand in the dunk competition.
Pierce, on the other hand, told the Boston Globe, “I plan on getting some rest, I plan on practicing for [the competition], and I plan on going out and winning it. I’m focusing on me winning it this year.”
