PETA to Larry Bird: Stop endorsing McDonald’s
This time, the organization designed to protect animal rights has called out to Larry Bird, asking him to stop endorsing McDonald’s. The reason?
Via the Indy Star:
PETA claims that in McDonald’s U.S. operations, “chickens still have their throats cut while they are conscious and many are scalded to death in defeathering tanks,” while McDonald’s European operations render chickens unconscious before they are processed.
PETA director Dan Shannon continues:
“With the nagging back problems that plagued him throughout his career, Bird is the first person who should sympathize with the millions of chickens who are killed for McDonald’s — chickens whose wings, legs and backs are routinely broken,”
Come on PETA, even you guys are better than that.
If PETA really wanted to appeal to Bird about being beaten and battered, they shouldn’t have talked about his nagging back problems.
They should have brought up playing against Bill Laimbeer.
