Eddie House says he’ll be traded, still practices

It's sad to see Eddie go.

The Celtics gave Eddie House the option to skip practice tonight, telling him he would almost certainly be traded tomorrow.

Eddie showed up anyway.  Just in case the trade doesn’t happen.  Just in case he doesn’t go anywhere.  Or maybe just to play some more basketball.

But just because House showed up to practice doesn’t mean he won’t be traded.  He entirely expects to be a New York Knick by this time tomorrow.

“There’s a strong possibility I will be traded to New York tomorrow,” said House. “At the end of the day this is a business, and the Celtics feel they will be a better team with the guys they are trying to get.”

House understands why the Celtics are making the deal.  The NBA is a business, and no matter where personal allegiances lie, a team’s front office has to do what it feels will give its team the best chance to win.

“I love playing with [the Celtics], but at the end of the day, it’s business,” said House. “The Celtics feel they’re a better team with the guy they’re trying to get. I gotta move on, that’s what it is. I’m here at practice today, I’m a basketball player, I do what I love to do. Then [Thursday] I’ll figure out what’s going to happen.

“At the end of the day, you can’t control it. It’s out of my hands — it’s never been in my hands. Wherever I go, if I go to New York, I’ll play two months, try to play real strong basketball, get some wins with those guys and make a good account for me for free agency.”

It still remains unknown who the other pieces of Boston’s trade with New York might be.  Nate Robinson would likely be headed to Boston, but a straight-up Robinson/House swap doesn’t work.  Neither does Robinson for House/Giddens, which is what Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears reported might be the case.

If the trade does go through, Spears also reports, Robinson would likely be available in uniform tomorrow night against the Lakers.

An easy way to ease him in, huh?

(More to come later, if and when this becomes official.)
