Team-First Kendrick Perkins

Kendrick Perkins, you can be on my team any day.  You don’t care if you get the ball, you don’t care about statistics, and you’ll do whatever it takes to win.  Did I mention that you’re still very young and only going to get better?

I have a confession to make:  I eat stuff like this up.  I love teamwork, and I love selfless play.  (Boston Herald)

“There was a play before they came out where we should have thrown it to Perk, and Perk said, ‘No, I told Paul to just keep being aggressive; we’ve got to get him back aggressive,’ ” said Rivers. “It’s great when everyone recognizes that. He’s not there yet, but he’s getting there.”

To be able to understand that his team needed Paul Pierce to get in a rhythm far more than it needed a meaningless bucket out of himself is just one reason Perk has advanced so quickly from the bumbling rookie without a clue to a near-All Star.
