Report: Thibodeau gets ultimatum from Hornets

The New Orleans Hornets are prepared to offer their head coaching position to someone else if Tom Thibodeau doesn’t accept the position by Thursday, reports ESPN’s Mark Stein.
The New Orleans Hornets, who offered their vacant coaching job to Boston Celtics assistant Tom Thibodeau last week, might hire someone else if Thibodeau has not accepted the job before Game 1 of the NBA Finals, according to sources close to the situation.
The Hornets don’t want to let their coaching search drag beyond this week and plan to offer the job instead to Portland Trail Blazers assistant Monty Williams if Thibodeau, Boston’s defensive specialist, doesn’t accept by Thursday, according to sources.
If Thibodeau decides to keep New Orleans waiting and roll the dice that New Jersey or Chicago will offer him a contract, he risks losing the only sure thing he has.
Could we possibly go another season without Tom Thibodeau getting a head coaching job? It would seem almost unfathomable, but it might happen.

Two weeks of waiting won’t kill them.
I read Chris Paul prefers Monty Williams, not to jump to conclusions, but this suggests not only something racial, but that Paul doesn’t want to work and with Tom Thibodeau things would be very serious. Paul wants someone that would be more like a guy to chill with and that clearly would be someone Paul could push around, not with Tom Thibodeau.
I believe Tom Thibodeau should pass on the New Orleans job anyway, I wouldn’t want him to start his head coaching career with this group of chumps.
If NJ or Chicago are willing to wait, both seem like better jobs.
Also Doc Rivers may give up his job and Danny Ainge may keep Thibodeau for Boston, which would be best for everyone.
I predict if Monty Williams gets the Hornats job, he doesn’t last the season and never gets another job.
I would never let Chris Paul decide anything.

About Chris Paul, you’re so right but I think Paul’s wrong about Thibodeau. It doesn’t seem like it because Thibodeau’s always stomping his feet and losing his shit on the sideline, but I read something that said Thibodeau is actually great at relating to players.
If that job goes to Monty Williams and Thibs ends up shutout again it’ll be a shame. Thibs deserves a head job more than any other assistant in the league, and has for a few years.

Tee-Tee is taking the reins from Doc soon. Perfect situation. Doc retires for a bit, Thibodeau takes over a team,system, and front-office that he knows intimately.
