I’ll be the first to admit, Paul Pierce has played poorly in the NBA Finals. Against Cleveland, he didn’t score well either, but he given a pass because he was defending LeBron James. Now, there’s no excuse for his poor offensive output–he’s guarding Ron Artest. So yes, Pierce deserves some of the criticism for the Celtics 2-1 deficit.
But don’t forget, Paul Pierce was the 2008 NBA Finals MVP. Against the Los Angeles Lakers. He has played poorly so far, but Pierce is not the kind of player who goes down without a fight. I think the Boston Celtics will win Games 4 and 5, before heading back to LA. And I know that in either Game 4 or Game 5, Pierce is going to erupt like Mt. Vesuvius on the poor citizens of Pompei. Lakers fans be warned.
