Scal wants to be back in Boston
(Somebody’s gotta teach Scall the difference between dap and pound. It’s an invaluable life lesson.)
Brian Scalabrine told reporters last night that he wants to remain a Boston Celtic. (ESPN)
“There’s no question I want to be back in Boston, no question, everyone knows that,” said Scalabrine, who stressed that his first preference is another run at a championship with the Celtics’ core intact, regardless of his role.
“As far as me and Boston and the Celtics, whatever my role is going to be — whether I start or make an unbelievable run in the playoffs like I did two years ago and contribute by playing 30 minutes per night, or not playing at all — whatever they ask me to do, I’m all for it.”
If Doc Rivers comes back, he’d be happy if Scal stayed. In an interview with WEEI, Doc once said my favorite sentence ever spoken in the English language:
“If you’re going to have a guy on your bench, his name should be Brian Scalabrine because he’s phenomenal.”
And if you’re going to have a blogger, his name should be Jay King because he’s phenomenal. Ya know, in the same way Scal’s phenomenal. In a chunky, out of shape, spray-tanned body type of way.

They’ll sign Scal to a vet min contract, no reason not to really. Fans love him, teammates love him, great guy to have in the locker room, and he’s a better option in a pinch if you desperately need a PF then most options out there for 1.3 million.

I’d love to have him back next year as a roster filler. Celtics could do a lot worse with their 13th or 14th man.
