Doc Rivers’ daughter saves the day

It's weird to have Doc Rivers touching his man-parts in a post about his daughter, isn't it?

For whatever reason, Doc Rivers seems to think his family is more important than the Boston Celtics. Weird, I know. He’s got his priorities all messed up.

But his daughter, Callie, set him straight. For what it’s worth, Callie also goes out with Brandon Spikes, the Patriots rookie linebacker. Maybe Spikes talked some sense into her. (Boston Herald)

But ironically it was his family pushing him back through the Garden door. Rivers wanted more time to watch kids Jeremiah, Callie, Austin and Spencer at a time when the season relegates the coach to what he laughingly refers to as the “phone disciplinarian.”

The kids, though, didn’t quite get it. Retirement? Callie, who will be a senior volleyball player at the University of Florida, looked at her dad in puzzlement.

“My daughter told me, ‘Why don’t you go back? You’re 48,’ ” Rivers said. “I told her I wasn’t retiring. I was just going to take a break and then get back to coaching. Think of what teachers do. But she said it again. ‘You’re 48, you have a group that you love, you have Danny (Ainge, the C’s general manager) who you work well with, why would you walk away from that?’ ”

This Callie? There’s a girl that’s after my heart. She understands the Celtics are more important than her family. Sure, it’d be nice to have Doc go to her volleyball games, but this is about a greater cause. Sometimes you’ve gotta sacrifice your own self interests for the greater good, and Callie knew what she needed to do to help the Boston Celtics.

On another note, if the Celtics end up winning a title next year there will be a rival coach to blame. Doc said he received a phone call from a coach of one of the teams with hopes of signing Lebron, D-Wade and Chris Bosh. All the phone call did was fuel Doc’s competitive nature and make him want to come back.

“I love that challenge,” Rivers said from his home in Orlando. “I’ll tell you that much. I told one of those coaches, ‘Let’s bring it on.’ ”

Let’s bring it on. Put that super team together. The Celtics aren’t scared.

But let’s be honest:

Maybe they should be.

What’s this girl’s address? I wanna send her flowers.

LBJ + Dwade + CBosh. I’m sick of hearing about those three holding the entire world hostage. Yes, they’d better end up together so that Playoffs wouldn’t be as easy as last season. We’d like a challenge this time. Haha.

Oh god. I just sounded very scared, didn’t I?
