Luke Harangody’s jump shot is looking good
Summer league coach Austin Ainge said Luke Harangody’s jump shot has really improved. Harangody is fighting for a contract this summer. (Boston Herald)
“I think it’s not a whole lot different,” coach Austin Ainge said of the forward’s standing as a draftee among free agents. “I mean, he’s trying to make the team like everybody else. He doesn’t have any guarantees. But obviously he has the advantage of the coaching staff and the front office really liking him. That’s why they selected him. But he’s a good player. His jump shot’s really improved the last couple of years.”
If you look at Harangody’s body his freshman year of college and his body now, you can tell he’s a hard worker. It’s no surprise, then, that his jumper has also gotten a lot better. Now, if only hard work could change Harangody’s height, wingspan and athleticism, the Celtics might really have themselves a player.

I watched some of this kid, I like his feel with the ball around the basket. He can post up well, his foot work looks strange to me. Anyway he can play some SF? Let me rephrase that question, can he guard SF’s in the NBA?? If his jump shot is average at best, he can post up as a SF. The problem would be on the defense of end, but remember I am only asking if he can guard back up SF’s in the NBA.

I think we’re better off with Rondo guarding Dwight Howard than Harangody guarding small forwards. Harangody is too slow to defend power forwards, never mind players on the perimeter.

I think I have seen a total of 30 minutes of him play and I felt the same way. I guess I just wanted, or needed to hear someone else say it. Maybe we’ll get lucky and at 6’8 he’ll get the job done.
