Larry Bird, I love you but this made me sad
His Celtics ties are still important to Bird, but he didn’t have that same emotion when they failed to beat the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals last month.
Bird missed part of the Finals because he was over in Italy scouting. And he fell asleep with the Celts leading in Game 7, only to wake up and learn the news.
As sad as it makes me to think that Bird no longer cares enough to stay awake for the deciding game of the NBA Finals, I can’t get mad at him. It’s Larry Legend people. Short of murdering the Big Three or cutting off Rajon Rondo’s legs, Basketball Jesus has a pass from me for the rest of his life.

yeah man, Larry Bird was pretty much the most excellent player i have ever had the pleasure to witness. I shook his hand once, that was a good day. Keep on writing, and what do you think of the new recent signings?

I love them all. Had to re-sign Pierce and Ray, and JO is a nice addition at a fair price. LOVE the signings.

Lets give Larry a pass. The time difference from italy to US had to have something to do with this. As you know Jay, it would be absolute blasphemy for me to say anything negative about the legend.

That’s why I had to give him a pass too. But it still made me sad to know he wasn’t riveted to the tv.
