Ray Allen: “It never leaves you, it hurts all summer”

Every time I think I’m done talking and thinking about the game I’d like to never talk or think about ever again, something else comes up and I’m forced to talk and think about it all over again. Yuck. This time it’s Ray Allen’s fault. (ESPN Boston)

On Boston’s Game 7 loss to the Lakers and the lingering pain: “I was depressed for a while and my teammates would echo the same sentiment. I couldn’t sleep. Everything emotionally and physically went into what we were doing… You don’t want to go outside and there’s nothing really you can do that will satisfy you. But just being around family and friends, enjoying the summer. For me, I’m just getting to the point where my body has started to heal itself. Mentally, I’m starting to work out again, running on the street. But it never leaves you, it hurts all summer.”

I hate that the Celtics lost. Despise it. It was sort of similar to sticking nine-inch nails through each one of your eyelids.

But to see how much Ray and his teammates care? It just makes me love the Celtics more. I mean, you see other teams get erased from the playoffs and it doesn’t affect them much. But Ray “was depressed for a while.” He couldn’t sleep. It hurts him all summer. It never leaves him.

Can’t the season just start today? I’m fired up. I want revenge on the Lakers and I want to take down the Three A-Me-goes.

P.S. – Ray also said this: “We still have a great opportunity. I know Kevin [Garnett], he’ll have some good time to rest his leg and come back stronger, healthier; the same thing with Paul [Pierce] and our young guys are getting better. There wasn’t a better situation for me.”

I’m a pretty young Celtics fan, so I wasn’t born to experience the 80′s and I wasn’t alive during the losses to the Lakers in the 80′s. (My dad was though.) But watching Game 7 this year was… one of the worst feelings I’ve ever felt. Like damn. It doesn’t help that majority of my close friends are Laker fans. Couldn’t stand to go on facebook or twitter because my friends were celebrating. (I live in Hawaii and so many people seem to be Laker fans, ugh.)

I wish the season started right now. We need to take them all down. Miami and the Lakers lol.

I grew up in Hawaii too, became a big C’s fan after going to school here (I also missed the 80s). Glad to see the green getting some love in the 808!

Game 7 was absolutely the worst I’ve felt watching sports, to come that close with this group and not close it out, it was tough. but it would’ve been tougher if they didn’t win in ’08, so thankfully we have one.

that said, can’t wait for this season, we still have a great shot. keep believing in boston!

I’m pretty sure I already hate Lakers fans who live in Hawaii.

The sad thing is it is all for not if rondo can not shoot outside of 3 ft of the hoop. It makes no sense to me how he can not develope a jump shot from 15ft too 20ft. I could developed that in about a week. Leave me wide open as he was in the finals i would knock that down 70% of the time. He gets paid millions of dollars and as unlimited free time to work on a jump shot and can not make them. It clogs the center and allows kobe to not get tired and grab 15 rebounds(that without the c’s would have one game 7). I guarantee if rondo has a jump shot the c’s will win the championship, and if he does not have a jump shot the will not win. The jump shot is that important.

If he had a jumper, it’d certainly be a huge deal toward opening opposing defenses. But let’s give him some time and see if he can develop the confidence to hit it.

Nate, hopefully Rondo will get a better jump shot..But without everything else Rondo does we wouldn’t have even been there. Everyone has a weakness, Rondo needs to work on his, that’s what great ones do. I think Perk not being in game 7 was more a reason we lost then Rondo’s shooting. I can’t believe I’m talking about this damn game again. ENOUGH!!! The reason I even responded was for Lorilei… I’m glad to see a young Celtic fan in Hawaii that doesn’t follow all her friends and root for the Lakers. The name appears to be a young girl but if you are a male I’m sorry for the mistake. I am old and have seen many Celtic games Lorilei and this game 7 I think hurt me more then any Celtic lose ever. I live in the New York area and this hurt me more then when the Knicks beat us back in 1990 in Boston after we destroyed them the first 2 games of the series. The first round was best of five back then and we were up 2-0 on the Knicks…We beat them so bad in the first two games and lost a close game in New York and they sent it back to Boston tied at 2 games each. Nobody in the world thought we were losing that Sunday afternoon in Boston. Any way kid, stay loyal and enjoy being a top notch team, when I was your age I was spoiled by great Celtic teams. I took it for granted until we went 22 years without a title. That’s all I wanted to tell you, enjoy it now and never take greatness for granted, it’s not easy to achieve.
