Al Skinner actually HASN’T talked to the Celtics

Man love.

So, um, those Al Skinner discussions with Doc Rivers about the assistant coaching position were apparently completely bogus. (Boston Globe)

“I haven’t talked to them,” Skinner said. “I wouldn’t mind talking to them. But I haven’t talked to them.”

Asked about a report that said he and the Celtics held preliminary discussions about the coaching vacancy left by Tom Thibodeau, former Boston College head coach Al Skinner said he hasn’t talked to with the defending Eastern Conference champions.

Hopefully, it’ll be Lawrence Frank’s job. He knows defense and he’s kind of wired a little bit like Thibodeau. At the very least, he’d be harder-working than Skinner, widely known as the college basketball equivalent of me: Super lazy.

In the end, my final reaction: Damn it, I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen when Skinner suggested that Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett run the flex.

I hope you know these flex jokes take a little part of my soul every time. I’ve been in the front row of that stadium for the last 3 years watching Rakim Sanders and Josh Southern being run off screens to open up a mid range jumper. That kind of pain doesn’t go away quickly.

Hey, as much as we make fun of it, he made it work. He’s probably the best coach in BC history, all things considered.
