Ray Allen trying to recruit some “free agent friends”

Ray Allen is recruiting some help to Boston next year. He doesn’t want to be done winning rings.

With the defending Eastern Conference champions still working to fill out their roster, Ray Allen, who re-signed with the Celtics last week for two years and $20 million, said he’s talked to free agent friends about making Boston a destination.

“I think now we’re at the stage where you see all the pieces where you’ve got guys that are taking less money and they want to be a part of a winner,” Allen said. “Veteran players that are very much role players and even some guys that have been dominant players in the league that are going to take less money because they want to be a part of a situation where they have a chance to win. So I think sometimes that does include some of the guys already on the team convincing some of our friends to join us that are questioning what they’re going to do.”

Let’s just hope Ray Allen’s “free agent friends” are good players. Let’s also hope Ray is persuasive than Lebron, Wade or Bosh. Because it would really suck if Ray’s talking to Kwame Brown, Adam Morrison, Gerald Green and Patrick O’Bryant about joining the Celtics while the good ones all go to Miami.

And not that Zydrunas Ilgauskas is very good or anything, but the Celtics went after him hard and he still couldn’t resist Lebron’s sweet mating call.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Barnes in green. I would have loved to see Reddick backing up Ray. The options are narrowing.

I am unimpressed with who Reilly is surrounding LeBoshade with thus far…

Give up on the Matt Barnes talk, Orlando is not going to do anything to help the Celtics. And Barnes wants a pay day, he’s not going to sign for a minimum contract, which is all the Celtics can offer straight up.

It’s just not going to happen. Resign yourself to the possibility of Marquis Daniels, he is fast becoming the teams best option.

Really? Unimpressed? I think Haslem is tough as nails, Miller is multi-talented, and their centers are all going to suck ass. Lol. But their roster has rounded out better than I anticipated.

Ya, I didn’t expect them to keep Haslem, thought for sure he’d look to cash in with the new CBA looming.
