Rajon Rondo, Team USA and some weird, waffling behavior

Just a weird situation all around.

Is Rajon Rondo going to show up to today’s USA Basketball mini-camp? As of yesterday, um, he didn’t really know. (NBA Fanhouse)

It’s a good thing that Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is more sure of himself with the basketball than he is away from the court.

He was downright indecisive Sunday when it came to his possible participation with the USA Basketball National Team that begins practicing Monday in Las Vegas.

“I might not know until later tonight,” Rondo told FanHouse late Sunday afternoon. “I don’t have a plane ticket yet, but I might still get one.”

Rondo was in Miami for Dwyane Wade’s Summer Groove Charity Game, but he declined to play, even when fans started chanting his name. He was on the bench dressed in basketball gear, but showed no interest in joining his teammates on the court. He said he was healthy.

What is up with Rondo and Team USA? First they couldn’t get in touch with him, then he finally decided to participate. Now he’s waffling again? There must be something we don’t know about going on behind the scenes, right? Otherwise this on-again-off-again love affair with Team USA is starting to get pretty strange.
