Don’t get too attached to Shane Battier

We are all in love with the idea of Shane Battier wearing shamrocks. How could we not be? He’s the perfect fit in just about every possible way. On the court, all Battier does is help a team win games. Off it, all he does is go to church and take charges on unsuspecting pedestrians. The man’s a pure winner and a class act, but he makes a lot of money and the Rockets will likely be in the luxury and have a lot of wings. It seemed pretty reasonable that Battier could possibly be available.

Until you read this comment, unearthed by Chris Forsberg.

“With a lot of key guys like Yao Ming and Shane Battier [at the end of contracts] and the lockout [looming] next year, we’re trying to make this is a special year and go as far in the playoffs as we can,” said Morey.

Battier DID seem too good to be true. But I won’t lose hope. He’d be absolutely perfect for the Celts.

I had a dream last night of being at the opening game of the season, and seeing Battier come out in a Celtics uniform…

Sigh, sadly it looks it might just stay in that dream. Shame…

Never going to happen, as I said in yesterday’s post. Move on and get that new letter to DA about filling out the roster with QUALITY players and not the names being promoted lately (Rudy & Barnes are OK; the rest is crap). Go Cs….

Why is EVERY other team improving and the Celts are just watching the good players disappear

Danny still has Rasheed’s contract up his sleeve. That contract will be worth a lot more once the season draws near and teams have finished spending money.

The Celts need a real Good REBOUNDER. Someone who can grab an offensive rebound with 2 hands and hold onto it.

What about Earl Barron or Tony Oliver ?

Please don’t get Shaq. We’ll be the Geritol team.

They just aren’t dependable enough to play minutes on a contender. O’Neal will help with rebounding, and I suspect they’ll bring back one more big man.
