Celtics interested in Von Wafer

Buckets galore. Coachability? Not so much.

The Boston Celtics have shown interest in Von Wafer, according to Hoopsworld’s Alex Kennedy.

The Boston Celtics have shown interest in Jarvis Hayes and Von Wafer, source confirms. @SherrodbCSN first reported team’s interest in Hayes.

I don’t know what to think about Wafer. On the one hand, he can score buckets during his sleep. On the other, he couldn’t pass a physicalfor two separate NBA teams last season after he bought himself out of the contract he signed with Olympiakos. On the one hand, he averaged 10 points in only 19 minutes during his final season in Houston. On the other, he verbally battled with Rick Adelman, who seems like a dream to play for. On the one hand, he’s not Adam Morrison, Jarvis Hayes, or Larry Hughes. On the other, he’s only had one good year in the NBA.

Damn, that’s a lot of muh-fucking hands. If you put a gun to my head, I think I’d like Wafer on the team. He’s kind of like a poor man’s J.R. Smith. He can fill it up in a hurry or he can take a few stupid shots and make you want to give him the Stone Cold Stunner. But he can score. Oh, he can most definitely score.

P.S. – I pride myself on knowing everything that happens in the NBA. Every trade, every signing, everything. If Shaq sneezes I know about it. But I never knew Wafer got signed and then subsequently released by the Mavericks last season. I don’t know how they got that one by me. Sly bastards.

He would have to take the minimum. I wouldn’t mind taking a flyer on him.

Actually, I’d love to see this guy on the C’s.

He may be a bit of a live wire but the dude’s got fire in him!

I like that, if you can control it and I think with the first REAL chance he’d have at winning a ring, and the type of personalities in the C’s locker room…he’d be fine.

I started to love the guy in the series against LA a couple years ago. He KILLED them!!! And he can play D alright oh yes! Especially in our system. He’d be great to pair with Rondo or Nate, and Quis cuz the dude can burn down the stadium with the 3 ball!

He’s got good athleticism too. At the minimum, I’m totally in! Shaq or Thomas would be great too.

Von Wafer would be a good fit, I remember watching the Houston- LA series 2 years back and seeing him light it up. It’d be nice to have a second unit that could score, and he would definitely help (Nate, Von Wafer, Quisy, Baby, O’Neal (for the the second half of the year)). Not too shabby. Also, according to ESPN’s stats, Jarvis Hayes scored 8 pts per game last year in 23 mnutes with 42% overall and 33% from deep. Not too bad with Chris Quinn and Devin Harris as your 2 point guards. He’d no doubt be able to produce on a higher level within the Celtics system. And @ Jeff, I’m assuming you’re talking about Kurt Thomas. He just signed with the Bulls for 2 years @ the vet. min., sorry brah.

I like Wafer a lot better than Hayes, but with both him and Nate on the second unit things could get crazy.
