Marquis Daniels has unfinished business

Marquis Daniels was bad last season. Pretty bad. In a Celtics season filled with disappointments, he might have been the biggest one (at least from an individual standpoint). Not even Sheed underwhelmed like Quisy, and that’s saying a lot.

But Quisy’s back, and it’s partially due to his unfinished business. (And probably partially due to the facts that the Celtics desperately needed a wing and Quisy’s super-impressive stats last season didn’t entice too many suitors.)

“It’s a chance for him to come back and take care of some unfinished business,” his agent Mark Bartelstein told CSNNE.com Thursday night.

“Like I said, I just want to go somewhere and help,” Daniels said earlier. “And if I’m healthy, I believe I can do that.”

And if you believe Quisy’s agent, Quisy still loves everything about the Celtics organization — despite experiencing the worst season of his NBA career while playing for them.

“He’s a $5 million or $6 million player when he’s healthy. So we’ll do this now,” said Bartelstein. “He loves the team. He loves playing for Doc, and he loves the guys. And then we’ll see what happens next summer.”

Bartelstein downplayed Daniels’ frame of mind after falling out of the rotation. Indeed, whatever lingering bad feelings there didn’t prevent Daniels from happily sending Robinson a congratulatory tweet after the latter re-signed with the Celtics last week.

According to Bartelstein, Daniels still enjoys playing for Rivers. A league source added last night that the Celtic coach had already given his consent to a Daniels return.

I find it funny that a league source had to add that Doc was on board with the signing. What did they think he was going to be, completely against it?

I really like this guy and hope Doc gives him the chance to play enough minutes to really make a difference. On his part, he has a great opportunity for a leading role and now it’s time to deliver. Love his attitude as well. Go Cs…

Definitely time to deliver. He needs to give the C’s the production we all expected last year.

I really do think that last year was a problem for Quis due to all the injuries that the C’s had, including his own, and the lack of a true role for him to step into.

When it came to defensive stopper it was him but then it was TA. Backup PG it was him for his ball handling but then it was really House once Quis got the ball up court. I never even really knew what position Quis was playing when he cam on the floor. Was he a wing, was he the PG? I didn’t know and I don’t think Quis did either.

He won’t have to shoulder that anymore. He will be a part of the second unit, not the entire second unit like last year.

He will be able to pay at the wing where he belongs, Nate can set up plays, he’ll (hopefully) have a shooter who can spread the floor (which is why Von Wafer would be perfect) and give Quis room to drive, and have Davis in there too to scoop up some rebounds and bang if Quis decides to dish to him.

I think Quis will have a good year. He won’t have TA to watch out for in taking over his minutes, he’ll know the system better, he’ll have a true PG who can shoot on the floor at the same time as him, and yes, he will get injured at some point, but he should recover and be fine.

Welcome back Quis! I, for one, am glad to have you back.
