Celtics interested in Eddie House

No way Eddie can share the floor with Nate. Right?

Weird story: I was in an airport yesterday in Hartford CT when I saw someone wearing a Luol Deng jersey walk past. That wouldn’t have been weird except it was, ya know, a Luol Deng jersey in CT. I would not have been more surprised if I’d seen Tupac — the real Tupac — alive and sitting next to me at my gate.

Anyway, it was around that time when I got the news that the Celtics were in discussions with Eddie House.

In the process of surrounding their core with a solid second unit, the Celtics have had discussions about bringing Eddie House back to Boston.

House, whose shooting streaks helped the Celtics win the title in 2008, was shipped to New York at the trade deadline last February for guard Nate Robinson.

“It’s something [Celtics president] Danny [Ainge] and I have discussed,’’ House’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, said. “But nothing’s imminent.’’

Call me crazy, but I just don’t see how Nate and Eddie co-exist on the same bench.

P.S. – Why is every single free agent the Celtics talk to represented by Mark Bartelstein?

Honestly, what’s Ainge doing? Seems like he’s sitting on his hands and watching every other team pick off all our potential targets. It saddens me to see those names getting strike off one by one off the list.

I’m sure he’s not, and when you can only offer the vet min, it’s tough to make strong moves.

I was hoping to get Thomas, but I think Boston fans have this idea that if two teams come calling with vet min contracts, the player is always going to come to Boston. You have to realize that not everyone values the history and tradition as much as we do, and there are other contenders out there.

Well put. You’re right about us thinking every minimum guy should come to Boston. And guys who aren’t minimum guys should take minimum money just because.

It’s fine. The Celtics will get one more minimum guy who will probably help a little, then they’ll flip Sheed’s contract for some more help. They’ve already had a solid offseason and it’s only going to get better.

Far as Eddie goes, I just don’t see how they make it work. It’d be hard enough with Nate and Bradley at 1/2, at least Bradley is long and athletic enough to guard bigger 2 guards. Eddie can’t do that, and although the second unit definitely needs another shooter, at what cost does that come? Doesn’t help your team much to add a guy that’ll give you +6 offensively, but -9 defensively.

There’s no way Eddie can play with Nate. Doc would have to choose one or the other.

I did forget that it’s still a job to most of the players at the end of the day. And spot on about the mentality of Boston fans. I’m glad Ainge got Jermaine O’Neal though, he’s the kind of guy with the right mentality that we need.

Who else can we look at, Rudy Fernandez?

I was totally thinking the same thing about the Mark Bartelstein comment! That dude must represent a lot of minimum contract players now! LOL!

I wouldn’t mind having House and the sentimental side of me would definitely love it but he wouldn’t serve a purpose. Nate does everything Eddie did and did not do, like ball handle and drive, but does it better. There’s not really a role for him anymore.

As for Ainge, his waiting may pay off. Look at Shaq, he’s running out of options. He could end up in BOS for a minimum deal! Although I doubt it, whatever he get’s will be well below what he asked.

If he were to come for the minimum, we’d have Sheed to trade for a wing and maybe Von Wafer would come. That would be a loaded roster.

Danny is trying to put together the best roster he can, which is probably why he hasn’t signed Harrangoddy, because if he feels that spot could be better used for someone else, if an intriguing deal came along he’ll do it.

So far I think he’s done a pretty good job.

Ainge is doing a very good job, I think. But the offseason all comes down to whether he can get something good for Sheed.

I agree. If he can get a good player in return, it would be huge! But the question is who?

Is Posey worth it? Nocioni? Battier is but as I said before…he’s not going anywhere.

Dallas won’t move Butler. Josh Howard can’t be traded.

I would love a Sheed for Corey Brewer and West trade with MIN!

Then we could just buy out Al Capone and keep Brewer who would be perfect fit on the C’s. Although his FT% is about as bad as Rondo’s, he’s a good 3 point shooter, he can slash, and he’s got crazy long arms!

Plus he loves to McNasty Dunk on Fisher LOL!

Get out da way fool! You’ve been posterized!

Brew would be a nice fit. Tony Allen after the trip to see the Wizard of Oz.

Forget House, no defense and Nate is better. If House would be the 12th or 13th man and used only for instant offense then fine (either he’s on or not as it’s very quick to tell). But I’d rather Nate get the minutes then having to share with Eddie. Go Cs…

I read the article on Reggie today and it made me sad.

I know his family, and his kid has the same condition. So sad.

I can’t help but wonder what would have come if Reggie and Bias had not died. I don’t think the C’s would ever have had that 20 year drought.

We would’ve had Len and Reggie to continue on the tradition and maybe Danny never would’ve left. Guys like Rick Fox, Billups, Joe Johnson. The Celtic tradition would’ve lived on after Bird and Red were gone with those types of guys. Then of course Pierce is the last of that era…the last true Celtic.

Sad to think of what could’ve been.
