Rudy Fernandez very likely to be traded

(“Oh Rudy when you dunk like that.”)

The Spanish Heart Throb.

Rudy Fernandez is pretty pumped the Blazers are willing to trade him. (By the way, don’t bother clicking the link unless you speak Spanish. Here is HoopsHype’s translation.)

“Portland is willing to make a trade and the truth is I’m pleased they want to do it. Now we have to find a team where I can have an important role or where I can find the dynamics I enjoyed in Portland the first year.”

“My agents are in the United States, they are speaking with them and if something comes up they will travel to Portland.”

What would it take to get Rudy in New England next season?

One trade that has been thrown around in the comments is Rudy and Pryzbilla (also on the market) for Sheed, Lafayette, and maybe a pick. Which sounds great, but… the Blazers are semi-contenders with an owner that has huge pockets. They probably wouldn’t be willing to dump Pryzbilla just as a salary dump.

So a trade would probably have to be Lafayette/Gaffney and a pick or two. Is that enough to fetch Rudy? Let’s hope so. There are some huge concerns about Rudy defending bigger wings, but with Marquis back in the fold Rudy would be freed to defend the smaller option every night. Which would free Rudy up to do what he does best: Get buckets.

Yeah, that’s true. But I’m not so sure they’d do it for just a salary dump

      WTF?!

      Taj Gibson and a second?!

Rudy and Priz for Sheed, Gaffney, Lafayette and a first! How about that Danny! GET THIS DONE NOW!

You actually only need one of those contracts to make it work. You don’t have to give up Gaff and Oliver.

I don’t see Portland moving Pryz just yet, despite the trade rumors. There’s no way their confident enough in Oden’s health to leave themselves with only Camby and Oden.

The Bulls are really starting to annoy me, doing all the right things and signing the players we target before us..

Hope we’ll convince Portland to deal with us

If Sheed is going to retire then we only have JO and Erden as Centers because you have to look at Perk as almost a trade deadline type guy. He won’t be ther for most of the year.

KG can’t play Center and Davis is too short to do it unless it’s a spot duty.

So really all we have is 2 guys with one never having played a single NBA minute. That’s nopt a good combo. We need one more big, as in a Center. So if Shaq comes we don’t need Priz. If we trade for Priz, we don’t need Shaq. If we get Josh Boone, we probably won’t get either of the other two even though I’d be more comfortable with Shaq or Priz.

It’s all dependent on who the C’s think is best and who they can get.

I think Rudy is Danny’s first choice right now.

If the Bulls get Rudy for Taj and a second then that’s crap because there’s no way that is a good deal. C’s can give WAY better than that.

What can the Celtics offer that’s better than Taj Gibson? But if the Bulls do that I wouldn’t like the trade for them. Gibson’s a keeper.

Why Przybilla? Because Perkins is injured, Jermaine O’Neal will be starting and if Sheed doesn’t play the C’s don’t have another center.

With the upcoming labor issue isn’t a first round pick more valuable than ever? The way I understand it is that essentially there will be twice the normal talent available since an entire years worth of talent will be left hanging during the lock out. Therefore, teams picking at number 22 will be getting the equivalent of an 11th pick. And a pick early in the second round would be like getting a later first rounder. If this is correct I assume Danny needs to be very careful not to lose that asset. Unless he gets a really really really good player who will be around for a bit. Just sayin.

No, most of the college talent entered the draft last year. More Freshman entries than ever before, because they wanted to get in before the new CBA. Most scouts say nexts years class is looking pretty thin, there’s really no sure bets.

I don’t think so. I believe the draft would still happen as usual. The labor grief wouldn’t occur until July 1, which is after the draft. I would think a pick might be less valuable, since some players might want to stay in school rather than be drafted into an unstable situation.

Forget Pryz; keep Sheed and give OL/TG and a first rounder and nothing else. Cause Santa Shaq is coming, I hope! Go Cs…

I want all these people yelling “convince Sheed to play!” to remember it if we go through another regular season like last.

Just because he was better in the playoffs, doesn’t mean he’s worth keeping around.

Sheed was great in the playoffs though. He really was. Changed my whole opinion of his brief Celtics career.

If you keep Sheed and add Shaq, that’s a whole lot of centers.

You’re right Sheed did ‘wake’ up in the playoffs so I’m fine with him coasting a little unless the home court advantage is on the line. With Sheed and JO you can use them at the PF with Shaq/Perk at center and mix and match vs other teams. Advantage Cs vs everybody. Go Cs…
