Sheed definitely retiring? (Update: Maybe not)

Sheed arguing with a ref? Must be photo-shopped.

Update: Maybe not.

Just wanted to post this for all those “Sheed’s still coming back!” kind of guys. You know, you guys who will read this and STILL think Sheed’s coming back, even though the Shaq signing basically told us all, “Hey, Sheed’s not coming back. And because of that, we needed another big guy.” (Boston Herald)

Forget this recent talk about a Sheed un-retirement. He’s done. He’s simply doing the Celtics a favor by holding off until (if?) they can find a taker for his $6 million slot between now and late October.

He’s done. So now we’ve got to focus on trading his contract for something realistic. Come to me with some more ideas, people. I suck at the trade machine, mostly because I keep trying to find absurd steals and never think to myself, “Well, maybe Andres Nocioni for Sheed straight-up would actually help the Celtics out.”

P.S. – Thanks for the playoffs, Sheed. When push came to shove, you earned your stripes.

Gee, I don’t remember Sheed ever saying he was retired, going to retire, or is holding off announcing his retirement to help the Celtics. Can you show me any of those quotes (and not from agents, close friends, ‘sources’, or family; only from him)? When Sheed says it then I’ll believe it. Go Cs…

P.S. I try and live in a black/white world and not in the speculation/rumor/maybe this will happen world; although I do follow rumors as sometimes (Shaq) they become real. And yes, you have called me out as a Sheed devotee but that’s because I see his value and he has two-years left on his deal with an excellent opportunity for two more rings with his friends and new friend additions. So I am optimistic but if and when he says he’s done then I’ll accept it but only then. Go Cs…

can we ban james already. He always says the dumbest shit. James sheed is retiring Shaq wont help the c’s and rudy is not going to be on the bench next year. I know after reading this you have already started crying like the time your mommy told you santa clause was not real, but the truth is the truth.

Nice post. You sure don’t know much about hoops do you?

Shaq will help, never said Rudy “is going to be” but hoped it would happen, and the last comment shows your class.

James, Danny Ainge was on the radio saying Sheed is done, Then goes out and gets Shaq. I think he is done…Is there a one in a million chance that Sheed changes his mind, probably…But I think you should face the fact that he is done…But you’re acting like it’s more of a chance he returns..

Time will tell. DA’s comment might be true, might not. Why would JO and others speak to Sheed about returning if he’s done? Yes, I hope he comes back and it has nothing to do with Shaq. Sheed can play PF as well as the 5 spot depending on what is called for. Don’t you think he could play outside if Shaq is down low? Isn’t that how he played at Detroit with Wallace and at Portland with JO? So I’m hopeful. I just would like to hear it from Sheed instead of everyone else and their brother. Go Cs…

Why hasn’t anyone thought of the possibility that this might be part of DA’s plans? DA’s a gambler, so it’s wise not to trust whatever he’s feeding to the media. Prior to acquiring Bradley, no one said anything about the C’s being interested in him. And guess what? It seemed that Doc and DA was bent on getting him right from the start.

    Only time will tell.

So you think he lied just in case they could have found a nice trade?
