Shaq’s press conference; Harangody signs
The wait is over. After Shaq’s introductory press conference Tuesday morning at the Sports Authority Training Center at HealthPoint, we finally know what new monikers Shaq prefers so far (The Big Shamrock and The Big Green Mile). Truth be told–apart from the snazzy bow-tie– Shaq’s press conference was rather bland. Shaq simply reiterated what he has already been saying: he loves the winning atmosphere in Boston, and he’ll do anything the team asks of him. (ESPN Boston)

Shaq and his new coach, Doc Rivers.
Shaquille O’Neal was introduced as a member of the Boston Celtics on Tuesday morning, saying the sole reason he came to Boston was to try to add to his title haul and is willing to play any role Doc Rivers envisions for him.
“I’ve done everything individually that I’ve set out to do,” O’Neal said. “Now, toward the latter part of my career, it’s all about winning.”
The most interesting moment of the press conference came from Doc Rivers, who confirmed that the Celtics have signed rookie forward Luke Harangody to a contract.
@WojYahooNBA: Second-round pick Luke Harangody has agreed to a two-year, $1.3 million deal with the Boston Celtics, his agent Mark Bartelstein tell Y!
With Harangody’s signing, the Celtics have a full 15-man roster, until Rasheed Wallace retires, or is traded. Along with confirming the Harangody deal, Celtics coach Doc Rivers had a lot to say about Shaq. (Green Street, WEEI)
“I’m not sure what they’ll call him yet — the Leprechaun, the Green Monster — I’ve heard all these different things,” Rivers said. “The bottom line is we’re looking at Shaq as another piece of the puzzle.”
“We wanted to address an area that we thought was a weekness last year,” said Rivers, who added the Celtics “struggled through Game 7 on the glass.”
“I think Shaq has the ability to draw fouls,” Rivers said. “If we can get teams in penalty situations … we can take advantage of that. … You need size to win.”
Shaq spiced up the mostly boring press conference by being his normal, gregarious self. He said he and Glen “Big Baby” Davis were going to have a clam-chowder eating contest, and later asked Doc Rivers who Harangody was after the signing was announced.
