Tony Gaffney: Tell me I can’t do something, I will

In case you needed a reason to root for Tony Gaffney, here it is. The man’s been working hard. His dream — playing in the NBA, for the Boston Celtics — is within reach, and he doesn’t want to let it go. And if he really did get a jump shot, with his already-legitimate defensive skills, he might have a shot to beat out Von Wafer or Semih Erden for the final roster spot. But I don’t think I’d hold my breath.

P.S. – Summer has come and gone. I went on vacation, but only once. I didn’t get a tan. I didn’t work out. I blogged. I played golf. I got fatter. I lost every basketball skill I ever had. What’d you do?

No way he beats out VW. Not happening but I got no problem with cutting SE, eating his contract (or make him play D league all year) and giving his spot and contract to Gaffney. Go Cs….

If I’m not mistaken, they can’t make Erden play in the D-League all season and still keep Gaffney. Even if the Celtics keep Erden’s rights but send him to Maine all season long, he counts as one of the 15 roster spots. They would have to cut him and swallow his contract. Which makes me ask myself, “Why the hell did they give him a guaranteed contract to begin with?”

If Gaffney impresses, I’m sure they will cut Erden. One thing about Wyc and the rest of the owners is that they are always willing to spend money.

I’m going to say it’s because said second round pick never rode a three-wheeled motorcycle with a gun-filled guitar case slung over his shoulders. But I’m with you. I wish they never guaranteed Erden.

team gaffney!!! von wafer is over-rated at his age. erden who? i actually thought lafayette was decent. he could likely pull a shannon brown move from a nobody to a somebody if he were given a chance. but gaffney’s defense is what the celtics need
