Jermaine O’Neal, who missed the season’s first two games with a pulled hamstring, believes his return to action could come Sunday. (Boston Herald)
Jermaine O’Neal is close to a return from his strained left hamstring. He hopes to play Sunday when the Celts play at the Garden against Toronto.
“I’m feeling good, but I need to get in a practice with the team,” O’Neal said. “I worked out (Wednesday) and (last night) and I’ll do it again (today). Then I’ll go through the team practice on Saturday and hopefully play Sunday.”
The C’s bench was terrific last night, energizing the team after the starters played flat. (The starters’ flat play was understandable. It was preseason, on the second night of a back-to-back, and the game had a smaller crowd than my girlfriend’s college field hockey games.) With Jermaine O’Neal, the already stellar bench only has one more weapon. Second unit, ridiculous.
