Stephane Lasme’s agent said recently that Lasme would sign with the Maine Red Claws, the Celtics D-League affiliate, unless he received an NBA contract offer.

Lasme was a training camp invite of the Boston Celtics. He played well enough to impress coach Doc Rivers and threatened Von Wafer for the last roster spot.

The Phoenix Suns desperately need big men who can rebound and defend, so Lasme has a fairly good shot of parlaying his workout into a job. It’d be hard for Lasme to turn down an NBA contract, though if he signs with the Red Claws he will likely be called up to the Celtics when–not if–the first injury happens.
