Celtics hold off Thunder,92-83
The Boston Celtics started its four-game road trip with a win Sunday night, defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder, 92-83.
Boston led by 21 points at halftime, but Oklahoma City closed the gap with a 25-15 third quarter. The Celtics survived 34 points from Kevin Durant and a double-double from Russell Westbrook (16 points, 10 assists).
Ray Allen continued his hot shooting, leading the Celtics with 19 points. Paul Pierce (17 points) and Rajon Rondo (1o points) were the only other Celtics in double figures. Rondo also added 10 assists for his fourth double-double in Boston’s first seven games.
Boston’s bench played a pivotal role in the win. Filling in for an injured Shaquille O’Neal, Semih Erden scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds in just 14 minutes. Nate Robinson finally shot well, making four of his seven shots for nine points. Glen Davis (eight points, five rebounds) and Marquis Daniels (seven points) also played well.
Boston heads to Dallas for tomorrow night’s matchup with the Mavericks.

Much better all-around effort and a good tough win. Much better rebounding by JO but PP needs more than 2 rebs in 32 mins. KG needs more shots (only 10). Bench played great. Glad to see Doc use SE as he needs to use his bench more. Now what will tomorrow bring? This will be a great early season test of their mind-set. Go Cs…

Is there such a thing as a completely healthy Spurs team? I don’t think the Lakers have any competition in the West, as long as they’re healthy.
