With point guards hurting, should Avery Bradley get more time?

In my first post for CelticsBlog, I wondered if it’s time for Doc Rivers to give Avery Bradley some playing time. Rajon Rondo and Nate Robinson are both dealing with bodily pain, and Delonte West, Doc Rivers’s only other trusted guard, is already out. That leaves extra minutes. (CelticsBlog)

Yesterday, Rivers chose to give those extra minutes to Rondo. Yes, let’s play our hobbled star 45 minutes! Who cares if he has plantar fasciitis and a sore hamstring? Who cares if playing on the hamstring could potentially damage it further? This is an early-December game! It’s a must-win!

If Robinson is still hurt on Friday, why not offer his minutes to Bradley? If the rook screws up, what’s the worst thing that happens? An early-season loss to the Chicago Bulls? Not the end of the world. On the other hand, offering Bradley experience now could pay off serious dividends in the future. With quickness to burn and all the athleticism a point guard could ever need, Bradley possesses heaps of potential. He needs some work to refine some raw areas of his game, for sure.

But if Bradley wastes away on the bench all season, it’s difficult to imagine his raw talent becoming any more polished.

Read the rest of the piece for all my thoughts.

    Of course he should but Doc’s an idiot and more playing time will not be coming. Where are all the comments? I hope I haven’t driven everyone away with my “negative” comments. Go Cs…

    @bigmo…

    Then you tell me what exactly I have said that is so negative? If you, and everyone else, are just happy winning games over sub .500 teams by 3,4, 5 pts; losing to inferior teams like OKC without Durant and Green at home; and be last in rebounding in the league because PP goes 35+ with 0, or 1-3 rebs and the bench plays awful and MD/NR/SE/DW can’t muster 4 rebs total game after game then I’ll shut up and go elsewhere. Go Cs….
