Danny Ainge discusses trade deadline

The creator.
Danny Ainge spoke yesterday about the trade deadline (which will occur sometime mid-February; I couldn’t find the exact date). Telling the Boston Globe “he is getting calls regarding trades but he is not close to any deal,” Ainge acknowledged he would like to see his team fully healthy before making any decisions.
“You never know what’s going to happen but I like our roster a lot,’’ he said.
“There’s nothing close and I really like our team when we’re healthy. There’s always calls this time of year. There’s always teams trying to do things, but I like our guys. There’s a lot of talk out there but I’m not sure what we’ll do.’’
I think about who the Celtics could possibly trade, and I struggle to find an answer. The only two players I could conceivably see traded are Nate Robinson and — wait for it — Kendrick Perkins. And, even though it would almost make sense for the C’s to trade Perk if they don’t plan to re-sign him in free agency (which they may or may not), they need him this season. The O’Neal brothers are daily injury concerns, and Semih Erden still hasn’t proven himself capable.
Most likely, any move the Celtics would make would be minor. The C’s are clearly one of four or five teams with real title aspirations, and don’t need much help.

There’s no way they trade Perk. He’s a rare but solid defensive player that can rebound, block shots, and take up space while being very good at defending taller players because of his bulk (a good thing). Once he comes back his offensive game is going to improve based on having Shaq around for another 1 1/2 seasons, maybe more. I’d trade Davis before ever giving up Perk. NR can go too. MD as well. Go Cs…

Agree on every point except Marquis, I think he’s going to prove invaluable in the playoffs.

I like MD and think he is playing much better this year, but in a package deal maybe a better and more consistent wing scorer could be had that also plays decent defense? Go Cs….

I think Getting a.blatche is good, But I still think our lineup is fine as long is everybody will do there job. Celtics should resign perk. I like Perk more than BBD.
