Sacramento Kings come to town, Celtics look to get back on track

The Sacramento Kings, to put it bluntly, suck.

Their eight wins match Cleveland for the league’s lowest total. They are 6-15 at home (which is no good), and 2-12 on the road (which is even worse). Tyreke Evans’ regression perplexes, DeMarcus Cousins has proven just as wild as advertised (and his 43.2% shooting is far worse than expected), and Beno Udrih remains capable of either greatness or utter disappearances.

Oh, well. At least the young Omri Casspi’s improvement provides hope. Wait, his numbers have also decreased all the way across the board? Ahh.

These Sacramento Kings are an organization filled with dysfunction, a real-life Bluth family. (If I took the Arrested Development comparison any further, I’d say Beno Udrih is Buster Bluth.)

Fortunately for the Celtics, these Kings come to town at a perfect time. The C’s just completed their season’s worst effort, an effort Doc Rivers actually called the team’s worst in three or four years. They are again struggling through the annual January swoon, and the lowly Kings should provide perfect medicine.

Either that, or they’ll provide yet another lesson that this Celtics team can turn its switch off very quickly.

A win, please, Celts. That’s all I ask. And, preferably, a little effort.

Jay…don’t bag on the Kings without really understanding their problems. Main issues are Tyreke has been injured all season with plantar fasciitis and has missed several games; Samuel Dalembert has not lived anywhere close to expectations (shooting 40% compared to 50% for career and rebs are down – worst stats of career ergo only 20 mins a game {even less lately] and non-starting); and Cousins is actually playing much better of late and has only started 20 games as a rookie (12.8 pts and 7.7 rebs – 26 mins per game -http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/couside01.html). As any new rookie, especially a center, he is not getting any calls and is often in foul trouble. I live in SAC and while the Kings are playing poorly at times they have been in most games until they have imploded in the 4th qtr, which young teams do because they don’t have experience. They also beat Toronto the first game of the season and I remember the Cs lost to Toronto early in the season before KG got hurt. The Kings are young, have talent, need experience and are building their team the same way the OKC Thunder have – through the draft. Tyreke and Demarcus are going to be all-stars for many years of their careers. They just need more talent and time. Now the question I have is – will the Cs again play down to inferior talent tonight? Go Cs…

despite shaq playing only 13 minutes, c’s letting the lowly kings shoot over 50%, and baby once again matching the leader of the team with the most shots taken and less than half his points, its good to see paul scoring efficiently, ray consistently lighting it up from deep, von wafer breaking out of his shell , rondo getting 13 assists in less than 30 minutes of court time, and the c’s getting some good production from marqueesy and nate. hopefully nate can stay more consistent. and james you should just start your own basketball blog site

@rondeezy – thanks (I think) but I’ll leave the blogging to others. Nice game by the Cs and good all-around effort. While wobbly in the first half they didn’t play down to the competition and had an easy night of it. A little sloppy on the d as rondeezy alluded to but it was to be expected. NR and the bench really came through. Go Cs…
