Knicks take credit for Boston’s poor play

While the Celtics admonish themselves for making the first two games more difficult than necessary, the Knicks think they know why Boston played poorly: because of the Knicks. (ESPN New York)

“We know it’s going to be a challenge, we know that. We know they’re really good,” Mike D’Anoni (he never has any T’s when he needs them) said. “But our confidence is that they didn’t play well because we didn’t let them play well, and that’s going to be out mindset going in. Now they have to prove us different, and they are world champions, they could prove us differently, but we think we can do a good job on them.”

Wow, talking about cockiness. But I like them talking sh., we have very prideful team who just loves proving others wrong. I can’t wait for tonight’s game :)

That’s like telling the lion when he’s gnawing on your leg, that’s OK I’m still alive. I expect the Cs to start bringing their ‘A’ game in all areas, as they need to start playing better (as they have acknowledged) to get ready for the second round. Go Cs…

Has any team ever talked this much smack after LOSING two games?

I don’t think the Cs are in sync as a team. I don’t think they’ve been in sync since The Trade. Sorry but it’s just that obvious. That said, the will to win has started to come back strong. They could easily have lost those two games to the Knicks. I hope the guys are able to get in the flow with each other as they go. Everything really depends on this, which is basically what Rivers has been saying. The way they move without the ball becomes the way they help out becomes the way they rebound as a team, …

Fair enough. The Celtics seem to be focused, so the Knicks coaches and player or whatever can say what they want – we are still 2-0, and thats what matters the most right now. Ray Allen http://www.nba.com/2011/playoffs/2011/04/20/shaq-out.ap/index.html?ls=iref:nbahpt2 says he is just thinking about game 3, and not what has happened or what will.

So if the Knicks want to talk smack after being down 0-2, let them.

    Boston in 5.

I didn’t really see this as being even modestly inflammatory. I mean it wasn’t Celtic defensive indifference that allowed Melo to get off. He was out there busting tough shots and that was a big part of why that game was tight. And it doesn’t quite seem truthful to simply say poor Celtic Glass Work is entirely to blame for those 20 NY offensive boards. To say that the Celtics did a poor job defending their glass is fair. But it is equally fair to say the Knicks just beat the Celts to the key spots. Add it all up and I see this falling about 90% short of Rex Ryan’s bravado.
