    That really is a great discussion, but here is where it exits reality:

    “The Celtics rarely futz around getting into their offense as so many teams do, which gives them time to run through their full list of triggers. ”

    That’s actually only true when Rondo is focused and playing with energy. Far far too often, Rondo doesn’t seem to start the play until well into the 24 second clock. At that point, there’s only time for the first option, which frequently doesn’t work. This is one of the most important reasons why an aggressive, focused, energized Rondo matters. We have to get into our plays early in the shot clock so we have time to go through options, and possibly even to run another play. Also, it helps in keeping the defense off balance. When Rondo waits for the offense to set, that also gives the defense plenty of time to set.

    In the playoffs, Rondo’s always focused (knock on wood). I don’t foresee that being a problem in the postseason.
