Chris Paul’s likely destinations include Boston Celtics, according to John Hollinger

http://twitter.com/#!/johnhollinger/status/141522992197943298

First Tyson Chandler, now Chris Paul. We’re on Day Three of the post-NBA lockout era, and already the Boston Celtics are becoming part of ridiculous rumors. The NBA — it’s back, baby!

P.S. – Hollinger noted that any Chris Paul trade would have to include Rondo. Am I the only one on the fence about trading Rondo (and his $11 million contract) for Chris Paul (and what would likely be a significantly more expensive price tag)? I consider Paul a better player. But Rondo for Brendan Haywood money is one of the NBA’s best bargains.

Yes, Chris Paul for Rondo right now, assuming that Paul will continue to play like he did in the playoffs last year and that Rondo will continue to play like he did after the Perkins trade last year, is a no-brainer.

And that’s exactly the idiotic level of thinking most people are doing when they consider trading Rondo for Paul. They are comparing Rondo at his worst to Paul at his peak.

I think that the Big Three must be pushing Ainge to trade for Paul. Shaq’s comments about Rondo from his book strongly suggest that the Big Three are disenchanted with Rondo. I think they are simply playing a blame game. They aren’t the players they once were and they don’t want to admit it. Look at Garnett. You can’t get him to mix it up in the paint anymore. His specialty now is trying to intimidate guards. Give me a break. Folks want to blame Rondo? These guys had four years with the best fast break point guard in the league and you could barely get them to shake their legs up the floor one time a game. But blame Rondo.

Chris Paul has already peaked as a player and may not even do as well in the future. Rondo could flag too, but chances are, he’s still growing, and he has a much bigger upside than Paul. I wish people would get it that the game isn’t all about scoring, or even about stats. There is a bigger picture. Rondo seems to get that more than any other player in the game today.

But sure, if Danny and the Big Three don’t have faith in Rondo, then now is the time to move him.

I would hate to see Rondo go but I don’t agree with the suggestion that Chris Paul could be headed toward the down-side of his career. He is still young and even if he doesn’t get any better, baring injury, I don’t see him declining anytime soon. If they feel they have one more chance for a championship with the big three then Chris Paul would give the C’s a better chance.

CP is not Rondo and ditching RR’s knowledge and experience of playing with the Big 3 would make me hate Ainge the way my buddy ‘paul’ does. Never happening! Go Cs…

Hey James….that sounds pretty emotional…weren’t you the guy who was railing against people’s emotional attachment to Perkins after the last big trade?

Well, if the Celtics are going to trade Rondo for someone, it might aswell be CP3. Come on, the guy is afterall a great PG. He knows how to use his teammates, just like Rondo.

However Rondo has grown part of this Celtics team. I dont know how the rest of the guys would feel if the management traded away their future PG, just as they their future big man (Perk).

But until there is somekind of offer on the table, I would just look at this as part of the ridiculous off-season speculation.
