Rajon Rondo’s agent says Boston Celtics assure him Rondo is “their guy”

Trade rumors have swirled around Rajon Rondo from time to time for years, but never has the commotion been as loud as it is now, with Danny Ainge rumored to be dogged in his pursuit of Chris Paul.

Since he rarely shows emotions outwardly, it’s difficult to visualize Rondo upset*. But his agent Bill Duffy said the rumors have hit Rondo hard. Duffy also said the Celtics assured him that Rondo is “their guy.” (Boston Herald)

“I’m told that he’s their guy,” Duffy told the Herald. “There’s been repeated interest in him, as there is in other players. But they have high expectations for Rajon now and moving forward.”

Still, the talk that the Celtics are looking to deal Rondo has caused more than a few waves.

“It’s just disturbing,” said Duffy. “It’s disturbing for everybody. It’s disturbing for me. It’s disturbing for him, because it makes one think, ‘Where do I stand in this relationship?’ Particularly because he’s a darn good player, and this is a very successful franchise, and he’s one of the key players on the franchise.”

The chances of Rondo being dealt are unlikely. But I’m convinced Danny Ainge would trade his mother if he thought it would help the Celtics win games.

*unless you remember the second half of last season

Ok, now folks, I know you all love to bow to authority, but use your powers of critical thinking and your knowledge of how things are and how people talk to read between the lines here. Danny basically said ‘yeah, I was looking to trade Rondo’, and Rondo’s agent is saying ‘Rondo is pissed’.

And I don’t blame Rondo one bit. Rondo is done here. Danny went and burned the bridges in effect. He is so commitment averse that he’d rather burn the future of the team than recognize that certain players should and must be untradeable.

Rondo is not done in Boston unless he is traded, and he will only be traded for Chris Paul, as no other PG in the league is worth trading Rondo for. So please, shut the hell up. Rondo stays IN BOSTON.

Well I’m not sure what Paul is on, but I for one am very well accustomed to reading between the lines. I see a different story here.
“I’m told that he’s their guy,” Duffy told the Herald. “There’s been repeated interest in him, as there is in other players.”
So the rumors about the trade were undoubtedly true…but who called who here? Sounds to me (and from DA’s cryptic messages it I gathered the same thing) like the Hornets called the C’s. Considering the fact that CP3 said he wouldn’t do a trade to Boston THE NEXT DAY, it sounds more like NO was guaging what they could get to trade CP3 before the season, and Rondo is the best out there that they could get by a longshot.
What team wouldn’t be looking at Rondo in a trade with the C’s???
