Chris Paul still very much in Danny Ainge’s crosshairs
The Boston Celtics are still hot in pursuit of Chris Paul, according to a number of reports tonight from some of the world’s best (and most accurate) NBA reporters. The trade package being offered by Danny Ainge differs from report to report, but we should take the following takeaways from the latest news:
- The Celtics want Paul very badly.
- They are willing to surrender a whole lot in order to get Paul: One report says the package includes Rondo, Green and two first-round drafts picks. Another reports says the package includes Rondo, Bradley, one first-round draft pick, possibly Green and Marshon Brooks, a first-round draft pick the Celtics traded away on draft night for JaJuan Johnson and no longer hold the rights to. Huh? (Note: Sam Amick has since updated the story, and the package would include E’Twaun Moore, not Brooks.)
- The C’s seem undeniably willing to trade for Paul even without a contract extension.
- The Hornets would rather have Stephen Curry than Rajon Rondo??
More on these talks tomorrow. Right now, it’s late, I’m tired, and I need time to digest the latest, crazy batch of reports.

This is f’in ridiculous. You expect me to believe we’re offering 4-5 players, with one being RR and his 4 yr deal still to come, for a year of CP3??? Whatever everyone is smoking I think their (whoever the hell “NBA reporters” are) weed is laced with Angel Dust. This makes no sense on so many levels. Go Cs…

I don’t know why you folks are having a hard time getting it that Danny Ainge crossed the Rubicon when he first started releasing these reports, rumors, call them what you will, about trading Rondo (and you can be pretty sure that the ‘rumors’ wouldn’t have been all over the place if Danny didn’t want them to be out there). One way or another, Rondo is gone. I guess we’ll see pretty soon to where and for whom. I still think he’ll go to the Pacers. Or maybe all the deals will fall through and he’ll stay, but I seriously doubt it

And I gotta say, all the emotion about Rondo leaving is really touching…

paul…on what ‘authority’ do you know what DA released??? Your speculation is worth as much as the lame rumors flying around. RR is not going anywhere. Go Cs…

i hope youre right james i would hate to see rondo wearing another jersey. DA isnt a complete retard tho. maybe hes trying to convince cp3 to convince dwight not to sign an extension anywhere cus the only contending teams with cap room to sign dwight in summer of 12 are celtics and nets. and since d12 and cp3 apparently want to play together, most likely its not going to happen thru trades this season.. idunno i have no idea whats going thru his head right now i just hope he can bring in dwight more than anything else..

I hate to say it but I think the Lakers are going to pull the trigger and trade Bynum for CP3 and then sign DH as a FA after this season. I just don’t see either in Boston. Go Cs…

They will if they trade Bynum, Gasol and Odom and get ammnesty on Walton or better yet Artest, or Meta blah blah blah, in order to sign CP3 and DH. It can be done. They could also only sign DH to a one-year deal and then retain his Bird ‘rights’ which would allow them to then offer a max contract. Go Cs…

Plus, there’s a 2 year window the owners left for max deals before the luxury tax gets too intense. Go Cs…
