Celtics plan to trade Glen Davis, perhaps acquiring Brandon Bass

His Boston Celtics career was filled with charges taken, jump shots fired, a weird, public relationship with Doc Rivers, and stretches of inspired play interspersed with flashes of being the worst player on the court. Now, the Celtics have reportedly decided the Glen Davis era has run its course. (Boston Herald)
The Celtics have apparently decided that Glen Davis’ future is better elsewhere.
According to a league source, the Cs are in discussions with Orlando to send Big Baby, in a sign-and-trade deal, to Orlando for power forward Brandon Bass – a player Magic management had been very high on at one stage.
In addition, the Celtics are pursuing Chris Wilcox, a journeyman big man who played with Detroit last season.
Oddly enough, Bass is a lot like Davis, just thinner, less of a defensive presence and far more efficient offensively. That doesn’t sound like they’re very similar, but they’re both jump-shooting, undersized big men with the ability to stretch the floor and make plays.
I like this. Bass makes $4 million per season for each of the next two years. The Celtics weren’t locking up Davis for a deal that small.

As far as I can tell, we need someone to work with the Bigs we have, and getting new ones, even with reputations for rebounding, won’t necessarily fix things. Baby did actually like to take the ball inside at times. Still, this sounds like a good move.

I won’t miss Big Baby…however he does deserve some credit for doing a decent job filling in for KG when he was injured.

Too bad GD pissed away all the value and upside last year that he had built up over the previous years when he played smart, aggressive and Celtic-type ball. Now all we can get is more underachievers. I’d prefer GD stay and work himself back to where he was…a top candidate for Sixth Man. Go Cs…what drudgery next???

If we can sign Wilcox, i think our Bench is looking Solid—Bass, J Johnson, Wilcox nice rotation of athletic bigs we didnt have last year—–
My last move i would trade Avery bradely to Detroit for Rodney stuckey—They are the same type of player but stuckey is bigger and ready to play now while still only being 25
