Pacers 87, Celtics 74: Bleh

payday loans

Ray Allen isn’t very likely to miss. The rest of the Boston Celtics were, at least tonight. The Celtics shot 39.4 percent and got outrebounded 47-36. This is the worst game recap I’ve ever written, but I don’t really want to discuss tonight’s effort (or lack thereof) any more than I have to.

I don’t think it means much, but the Celtics still haven’t defeated a winning team.

To me, it’s the same as the Wednesday Night game, only against a much better and much more motivated team.
This game was going to be a tough one for us, because the Pacers are a good team, and they were obviously going to be highly motivated after being crushed by the Heat.

But what on earth happened to Aggressive Rondo? Wasn’t it just three weeks ago that everyone agreed that we needed Rondo, as our best player, to be our lead guy?
Instead it’s the same bs as last year, and I’M SICK OF IT. Rondo is playing the same passive aggressive mindgames that he played last year, and the Big Three are acting like dysfunctional big brothers, who absolutely REFUSE to let the kid brother take center stage. Imagine the Jackson Five if Jermaine Jackson had insisted that he as the lead guy? How many shots did hero Paul Pierce take tonight? MORE EVEN THAN RAY ALLEN, even though Ray has been cooking for weeks. Meanwhile, once again Rondo cruised into half time fourth or fifth in fga and with no fta.

Rondo is the guy who should be coming into halftime first or second, no lower than third in fga, and with around five fta. EVERY GAME. Period. There should be no ifs ands or buts about this.

Why? For God’s sake, there is no mystery to this. This team feeds off Rondo’s energy. When they do this, magic happens. Otherwise, they are really just three old guys. They have to find the synergy, or really, KG might as well retire and the team should send Rondo packing.

I am just so sick of this. It’s not the loss that bothers me. I consider this team to be a work in progress and I expect them to struggle a lot. What frustrates me and at this point just makes me sick is that the most basic fact about this team this year – that Rondo was going to have to lead the way as what Doc termed “The Aggressor” – has once again been COMPLETELY forgotten as the competing egos of the Big Four have once again taken over. KG is obviously constantly pissed at Rondo. Pierce continues his tug-of-war with Rondo for leadership of the offense. Ray Ray seems to be off in his own world, shooting for a new contract. And Rondo? I give up on this kid. He’s not even a good role player, because he’s too ambitious. As the lead guy, he is HORRIBLE. I don’t care that he is brilliant one game out of five. The other four games we spend making excuses for him. I’m sick of it. Get rid of him. But all he has to do is have another of his brilliant games and we’ll all be back on board. Then he’ll have four bad games and we’ll go on a losing streak, and the same cycle will repeat.

Rondo didn’t actually have a bad stat line tonight. The only problem with tonight was that once again he waited until the second half to start attacking. It’s just not good enough, and he’s had plenty of chances to figure this out.

Paul: I hear you completely, this feels like a repeat of last year, not just with Rondo but the team not rebounding or playing in the fourth quarter. Doc may as well have played the bench the whole game tonight and saved his starters legs for the next game (should they decide to show up). This was ugly, and yes Jay, it does mean something that they have yet to beat a good team. I think D. West made the right decision in signing with the Pacers, a team that has far better chance of going somewhere this year. I’m disgusted. 25 points in a half?

What’s sad is this could beat anyone if they were a great REBOUNDING team.. Think about it. If we out rebound the Pacers tonight, we win. REBOUNDING already cost us a title in 2010… Nobody seems to think it’s a big problem, but it’s the only problem. We play solid defense, we are amongst the top in fg percentage… Tonight we sucked offensively but it was good enough to win easily if we knew how to rebound.

F’in pathetic effort…especially you Mr. Truth. Q3 and PP gets fast break pass from Rr and pulls up at the 3-pt line and bricks an ugly shot (hey, it happens and besides he was 3 for 14 at that point so why not jack up another) and then gets back on defense (OK, he just trailed Granger and was 10 feet off of him) when Granger gets a corner pass and drains the 3 with PP still a good 6-8 ft off of him. Hey PP, guys in the NBA can shot too and you need to f’in play defense not by watching but by actually staying with your man. So glad the NBA League Pass free offer is coming to an end so I will no longer have to watch this crap. So does Doc get mad ever all night??? Hell no, but he can joke with the refs at the end of the game and walk around with what looked like a ‘not a care in the world’ look all night. God he sucks major as a coach. The Cs played listless all night until the 4th when they tried for about 3 minutes to play real hard to get back into the game. hey guys…too f’in late. If they ever learn to block out and rebound then maybe they win games they should, like this one. Again, just f’in pathetic to watch. RA hits 7-11 and 4-5 3s but PP keeps jacking from all points (1-6 in 3s) while the hottest guy touches the ball about twice in Q4. And those refs didn’t help either. In fact, everyone sucked tonight. Go Cs…stop sucking!

Hey James… Really? Is Ray Allen the leader all time in 3 pointers? Yes right?? Did he every go 1 -10 from behind the arc? Of course he did… Everyone has bad nights. You would make a lousy coach. Bad shooting happens, if we dominant the boards every night we would be a title contender.

Yes Frank, really…I understand players having bad nights but I would not accept PP coming down and firing 3s with less than 5 secs into the 24-second clock and then not defending the other end. It was a 6-pt swing and killed a rally with the Cs within 6 pts. If I was the coach I would have pulled PP out of the game and sat his ass for a few minutes (considering he ended up 3-17 that might have been better for the team). Ray was on fire yet only took 11 shots. If he takes just 3 shots from PP and makes 2 of them while the Cs were close then thats a potential 10 pt swing just on 2-pt shots alone. Do you get it??? Watch the game next time as if you are the coach and think about what you see and what you should be seeing based on the game plan. I have no problem with PP trying to get his touch back but not by jacking 3s (remember he was 1-6 and he can always drive to the hoop and possibly get fouled too but instead kept firing them up from all over outside the 15′ area) but then not playing defense as he should. He was an f’in spectator on that play, and others, and Doc should have yanked him, but Doc has no balls. Doc should also yank players not rebounding either (especially the guards although RR is pretty consistent). So there, yes really!!! Go Cs…

He’s Paul Pierce… He hits those bad shots often… The Celtics issues isn’t PP…. It’s rebounding…. That’s why we can’t win ugly games

I get who he is and that he’s going to keep shooting but why not drive and get to the FT line (only 4 fts in game) as that is also productive and helps one’s shooting ‘eye’? Why can’t he defer to RA knowing RA is hot (other great players do that when off)? How about his total lack of defense or the 5 TOs he had? I love PP too, but sometimes he needs to be called out or benched as all great players have happen to them (except under Doc’s rule). You think Red would have put up with PP’s crap game and effort last night? Not a chance. If he defends, hustles, and makes up for it in other ways then he can fire away all night long, but PP was not doing any of that and was literally going through the motions on defense. At least that’s how I saw it. Go Cs…

Rondo is the future of the Celtics. Why get rid off him? He is a great playmaker and he can’t help it if other players on the team are cold. There’s no way I would EVER trade Rondo if I was Danny Ainge. It’s only 1 game, a new line up and early days in the season. Start worrying if they play like this near or in the playoffs.
