Rasheed Wallace plotting NBA return, would give Celtics consideration

Hide yo’ kids, hide yo’ wife, hide yo’ three-point arc. Rasheed Wallace is hoping to make an NBA return, and he is expected to “give the Celtics some consideration.”
As reported by Yahoo! Sports, former Boston Celtic Rasheed Wallace is giving some thought to making a return to the NBA.
But don’t get your hopes up, Celtics fans.
A league source told CSNNE.com Thursday night that Wallace will give the Celtics some consideration, but “he’s going to look at all his options” before making any decision.
Obviously, the Celtics would have to cut someone for Sheed to return. And they might want to do so. Because when you’re in dire need of offensive rebounding, more accurate three-point shooting and better defense, Sheed’s obviously the perfect guy to call. Everybody remembers his Herculean regular season effort, mentality never to take a single play off and tendency to remain in perfect basketball shape. We all recall his picture-perfect defensive rotations, Rodmanian ability to chase down offensive rebounds and impeccable shot selection.
Why wouldn’t the Celtics look to re-sign Sheed? They’ve looked old, and he plays with the type of youthful enthusiasm that can inject an entire team with energy. He has obviously been putting himself through two-a-day workouts since retirement (that’s just the type of dedication he has), so there’s no question he’d be ready to play 48 minutes right away if that’s what Doc Rivers needs. The more I think about it, the more I believe the Celtics are keeping so much cap space open for 2012 not because of Dwight Howard, but because they had a feeling Sheed might come out of retirement.
I could keep going, but I think you sense my sarcasm by now. Sheed was absolutely terrible two years ago, and there’s no way he’d be any better now. As bad as Boston’s centers have been, and they’ve been rather atrocious, Sheed would not help anything the Celtics need to improve. If they sign him, it would not only be okay to throw eggs at Danny Ainge’s house every day for the next year, but I would also suggest that you instantly denounce your rooting interest in the Celtics and choose another team to love, preferably the Minnesota Timberwolves.

I find it interesting that you would egg Danny for Rasheed, but not for The Trade.

He does so because the ‘trade’ was good and it’s time to never mention it again. Go look at Perk’s stats….he is basically playing the mediocre level of ball that DA and people like me saw from him. He has only one game of dbl rebs and 3 over 8 (8,9 and 13) while having 4 of 4 or less (4, 4, 2 and 3) while averaging 27 mins per game. His stats are down and his TOs and PFs are up. What in the hell do you see in Perk, other than ‘chemistry’ (which KG covered his ass much more than anyone will admit) that says he is any better than JO whose stats are 22 mins 5.4 pts (same as Perk), 4.3 rebs (-1.8 vs Perk) in 5 less mins of play??? Add in JO’s Blks at 1.6 and KP’s at 1.3 and I say JO is a better center right now considering he’s playing 5 less mins due to bs fouls. paul…Perk is long gone and stewing over his mediocrity and missing it makes no sense. On the Sheed issue I say being him in and let him show what he’s got. He definitely showed up for the playoffs and played well, which with the Cs continuing to coast in reg. season games fits perfectly. He knows the plays and players and would be a great replacement for Pavlovic who needs jettisoning! Go Cs…

I read crap like this and it makes me sick. Let me ask you this, James. Do you think OKC would trade Perkins back to us for JO? Uh no. No, they would not consider it for one second. Nor would they consider this if we threw in Stiemsma and Wilcox. Not for one second. It’s not about the stats, and you know it. Could Perkins carry a team that depended on him for scoring and rebounding? HELL NO. But he solidifies the middle for any team, which is especially effective for a good team. We have desperately needed him since he left for all kinds of reasons. It’s about chemistry. It’s about cohesion. It’s about toughness. And it’s about the way Perkins patrols the paint. Very few centers do that these days. Perkins would have been a good backup in the seventies. Right now, he’s a top notch starting center. That says a lot about how the league has changed. I don’t know why teams don’t make a point of training up centers, because if you look at the impact that a Howard has had on the NBA, just imagine what impact a real pivot man would have. But what matters in this context is that we have missed Perkins very very badly AND YOU DAMN WELL KNOW THIS PAL.
Stop lying about this. Stop fronting for Danny. Have some damn integrity. You do NOT have to be a shill like all the fake journos that depend on Danny for access. Are you employed by the Celtics or what?

First off, thank you for the compliment of “making you sick” because every time I see you comment about the ‘trade’, something like a thousand times and counting since it happened, I just cringe. How you are so in love with Perk is beyond me considering his absolute mediocre play. Yes, he’s a big fat slow thug that clogs the middle but there’s more to being “a top notch starting center”, which he certainly is not, than filling up space. KG was instrumental in covering for Perk and helping him ‘appear’ a better defensive force than he really was. And how can you argue stats? there’s a reason stats are kept and analyzed as they speak volumes about what happens on the court. They are not intangibles, which apparently you think are more important…FYI, they are not. Perk’s stats basically counter his good with his bad, ergo his mediocrity. He can’t and never will average dbl rebounds or points and while JO is 33 his stats are better than Perks who is 27. And please don’t forget the ‘trade’ was made for Jeff Green to solidify the bench and to back-up PP and because Perk wanted money the Cs just couldn’t pay and that he did not deserve. I am so happy, nope make that F’in ECSTATIC, that he is gone and will reply to you every single chance I get when you try and rail against or mention the ‘trade’. For truth and honesty, I do not and have never worked for the Celtics and am not a “front” for DA. But you certainly seem a conspiracy theorist paul and unfortunately for all of us we have to continue to hear you bitch about Perk being gone. I generally like your posts and comments, but will never, ever back down on the Perk SUCKS movement… which I am the president of. The only thing Perk “patrols” is mediocrity and he is proving so every night with OKC. Go CS…

Last thing the celts need is another over the hill washed up has-been on their roster–they all ready have six (Pierce, Garnett, Allen, O’Neal, Daniels and Pietrus).
