Ray Allen hopeful for tonight, would have returned yesterday if he ‘had his druthers’

Ray Allen (jammed ankle) is hopeful for tonight’s game against the Orlando Magic and would have returned despite pain yesterday if he had his preference. (Boston Herald)
“It just seemed like it was a train wreck waiting to happen,” said Allen, whose X-rays showed no major problem. “The guy stuck his leg out. I tried to get over a screen, and my foot didn’t come down and just kind of jammed. Pushing off it now, there’s pain in the back of my ankle.
“If I had my druthers, I would have tried to come back out on the floor and work through it, but I just feel too much tightness and pain in it right now.”
Allen said his injury was inevitable because of the way Jan Vesely, the 2012 NBA Draft’s best kisser, set screens. (Boston Globe)
“It feels better, but we’ll see by [today]. It was the way [Vesely] was setting screens. He was stepping out and extending and every time I tried to go around it, his foot was in the way, so it just seemed like a train wreck waiting to happen.’’
P.S. – I don’t know if this makes me stupid or just normal, but I needed to Google the term “if I had my druthers.”
