Jermaine O’Neal misses practice, questionable against Orlando Magic

I hear Jermaine hurt himself trying to walk across a shag rug to pinch his great-granddaughter’s cheeks in between rounds of shuffleboard.

And just for fun:

The big questions for the game tonight I think is whether Rondo will match Bradley’s defensive intensity, and whether Paul Pierce is willing to let the guy who should control the offense and be featured in the offense, Rondo, actually be in that role. There comes a time when a rising young player needs a little freaking room to spread his wings, and I’m sick and tired of the Big Three, especially Pierce, crowding Rondo out. Let the young guy attack the basket more and play off that more. You don’t always have to have the damn ball, Paul. You’ve dominated this team for a decade. Let someone else have a chance.

That said, I hope JO can give us some minutes. No doubt, Howard will be looking to have a big game.

Game is tomorrow. Jay…how about giving JO some slack considering he is playing well and much better when he isn’t saddled with cheap non-fouls that the refs are forever whistling him on? And the early foul problems cause him to sit a lot. Over the last 5 games he is averaging 7 rebs and playing hustling defense and is taking more charges. His offense will come but he isn’t being relied on for offense just points off rebounds and a jumper or two early to get him going. To continually rip him makes no sense and isn’t really funny. Criticize him yes or praise him, but jokes (and lame ones at that)? Come-on, you’re a much better writer than that and you never know who’s reading your blog and may want to hire you someday. Just saying…keep it professional and with the high quality 99% of your writing is about. Go Cs…

Thank you James. No it is not funny and it is hurtful. I am sick of writers who are not respectful and write like adolescents. Jay is a good writer…he does not need make fun of players who are out there trying. The way JO throws himself into the mix who would doubt he is not risking a serious injury every time he plays?

It was just a joke, guys. Nothing disrespectful meant. Jermaine would be the first guy to tell you he hasn’t been very durable the last couple years. I’ve written many times how much I admire him for his performance in the playoffs last season, done with a broken wrist.

Jay…yes it’s a joke and the daily readers understand that, but what would a new reader or a prospective employer think if it was their first time reading one of your posts or doing due diligence on you? What if JO read it because someone turned him on to your blog? It’s like bullying or hazing or ripping a friend unmercifully, funny in the moment; but truthfully hurtful with potential long-term effects. Kind of like Anthony Wiener putting his junk in a pic and letting it fly. There can be serious consequences for such stupid acts. Your ‘joke’ was not in that category of stupidity, but you demean yourself and your genuine high-quality writing when you make jokes like that. We also know how you feel about JO and all the players. Sometimes trying to be funny or edgy doesn’t always work. Just write what is from your heart and think twice when proofing your comments. When you make lame and hurtful jokes at another’s expense it just lowers your value and so why be in the gutter? There are already enough assholes there and they deserve to be. You don’t. Go Cs…
