Kevin Garnett, God Bless his soul, and just as importantly his body, participated in Boston’s morning shootaround today and is now “probable” for tonight’s game against the Pistons, rather than doubtful. Though Charlie Villanueva has contracted tendinitis and bone spurs that threaten his entire season, he surely prays nightly for Garnett’s health and good mind.
If Garnett does play, we could see considerably fewer minutes for JaJuan Johnson due to Jermaine O’Neal’s likely return. (Hold on a second while I stare dejectedly out the window and scream, “NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!”) Okay, I’m back. Johnson has showed real potential during every stint of extended playing time he receives, but his defensive liabilities on the low block and less-than-firm grasp of the team’s playbook could leave him on the outside of the rotation looking in.
Mickael Pietrus said “of course” he will play, O’Neal expects to rejoin Boston’s rotation, and Brandon Bass said he will not make his comeback until after the All-Star break. Ugh.
