Pistons 96, Celtics 81: Oh, so ugly

Fill in the blank: Watching the Celtics these days is like __________.
I say it’s like pouring salt onto an open wound while eating moldy cheese, being stung by an angry pack of African killer bees and spending a week forced into wearing Robin Lopez’s haircut, all while Reggie Miller follows you around and commentates everything you do.
Losing twice to the Pistons in less than a week is not a good look.

22 TOs, 31 fouls and giving up 16 offensive rebs (losing the boards war again) and you have a sub .500 team, which happens after tomorrow’s game. Go Cs…more later if I can stomach it.

They didn’t attack the basket, and a big part of the reason for that was that once again they took the ball out of Rondo’s hands because, apparently, everyone agrees that the main goal of this team is for Pierce to the main guy on offense.
Time to trade Rondo. He needs the chance for a fresh start on another team.

paul…stop with the trade RR talk. as you do not really mean it and it’s never going to happen. Go Cs…

I hope you are right, but I’m pretty sure it is going to happen. I don’t want it to. And yes, if Doc is going to continue to pull this crap, that he seems to be pulling, where he seems to insist that Rondo stop attacking and ‘set everyone else up (meaning Pierce)’, and it kills our offense, then he really needs to be elsewhere, so Pierce can rule the roost, and so Rondo can spread his wings.

Come on James. It’s perfectly clear now that Pierce and Rondo cannot work together. Someone has to go.

Dont trade rondo tell the other guys to attack the freaking basket! And what’s up with rondo getting ejected?! He never gets ejected. I think the refs were working against us this game. I saw foul after foul on the we page following the play by play.

Yeah, the officiating was ultra-horrible, but at the same time, we were not attacking the basket, and that begins with Rondo, our best penetrator

They basically killed our chance at coming back. Why did rondo get ejected? And yeah I guess no one was on attack mode. Pierce and rondo are going through some tough times right now and idk why but that doesn’t mean weneed to trade them. This is the first time we’ve seen them struggle like this.

No, they’ve been going through this since last year. This power struggle began last year, but it was less obvious then. Now it’s so obvious that Doc HAS to step in, and obviously his solution is to tell Rondo to cool it and let Pierce be The Man.
Rondo needs to go to another team, and the Celtics need someone they don’t hate as point guard. And yeah, it’s obvious that they hate Rondo. They watch guys club him routinely and don’t even react with even concern.

They are obviously in a bad funk on all levels. This is a strange team. They win 9 of 10, looking like contenders, but then fall apart like the beginning of the season. The pieces are fitting together. Do they need to make some trades? Or simply try to make it work with what they have. I turned the game off after the first half. Sorry, just couldn’t take any more.
I put it on Doc to come up with a cure.

Guys if you go to first row sports. com you can watch games on the net. I believe it’s a legal feed. Road games are usually announced by the other team’s announcers, which sucks, but it’s better than nothing.

Oh, and before folks jump all over Rondo for the ejection, look at the film. Watch Rondo drive the lane, beat his man, and throw up a floater, which he misses wildly because … why? Could it have anything to do with the 250lb 7foot human being tackling him?
No call. So this is how the NBA is now? Centers can just tackle point guards? Or is it just Rondo they are allowed to tackle and then trample?
Notice too that no Celtics confront Monroe. That tells you everything you need to know about who the Celtics are now. Rondo is routinely mugged by Bigs, and there is never any response from the Celtics Bigs.
Is that how it was when we were a real team? Were opponents allowed to just tee off on our best players with no response? Is that who we are now?
It’s perfectly obvious that the ref ejected Rondo because he knew he his noncall was so disgusting and heinous. So Rondo flipped him the ball – he didn’t ‘whip’ it, as Flannery claims, nor did he even throw it. He flipped it, and not at the man’s feet, or head, or groin. Maybe he even said some mean words. I’d hardly blame him one bit after what the ref had just watched Monroe do to him.
How can a player play when he can be mugged routinely by other teams? He can’t.
Now watch Doc totally not stand up for Rondo.

Crap…the CS are on TNT tomorrow so I’ll be forced to watch. Well at least they give more effort when on national TV. Still going to be a sub .500 team after tomorrow and get over the RR has to go talk paul. They’ll work it out but KG and BB need to be playing. Go Cs…

James, they’ve had plenty of time to work it out. They’ve made no effort to do it that doesn’t involve telling Rondo to get back in his hole and stay there. It’s time for Danny to make a move.

Yeah KG being out takes a lot out of our team identity. But I blame the refs for this one. Ik that’s immature but c’mon. Rr getting ejected? He never gets ejected but Paul dude you have to realize that Ainge is looking beyond this season obviously…he wants to build around Rondo when the big 3 either call it quits or get traded. With Jeff Green coming back next year, those two plus BB will be a very foot nebulous for the future of the C’s. It make no sense to trade him.

I agree that it makes no sense to trade Rondo, but that’s exactly what Danny has been doing and, you know, he’s been known to make trades that make no sense.
This team is done with Rondo. They clip his wings. They blame him for what goes wrong (talking about the fans and media there, but you know the media types pretty much get their talking points from the Cs). And Rondo’s teammates watch him getting mugged game after game, and you know what? They don’t seem to have any problem with that, do they? And they don’t exactly respond to his leadership, do they?
Time for Rondo to move on.

Give it a rest paul. RR is the center of the team. And he needs to feed PP/RA/KG and the others as that is the role of the PG, as I explained the other day. KG & RA will be bench players next year and once everyone is healthy this team will flip the switch and start winning. It’s just how they roll. Go Cs…

Wow, Daddy James explained it so little me should shut up. !!!!!! Lol!
But I wonder, Daddy James, is it possible for a guy to be a distributor AND a scorer? Possibly?
Yeah, of course it is. The way you and so many other people talk about Rondo is utterly inane, like he’s a newspaper delivery kid, that you are mad at for throwing the paper in the bushes.
Rondo should ask to be traded. If I were him, I wouldn’t be willing to put up with this crap anymore.

Couldn’t have said it better than Jay did in his original post. Should get better when Bass and KG are back. My son and I were watching highlights from the Knicks game. He said ” this is bad for the C’s”.
Even with all his flaws, I think and hope Rondo is the future of the Celtics. Doc seems stuck in a time warp — the team did really well during the stretch here he was forced to play th young guys.
I hope James is right — ray and kg sign for the minimum and come off the bench. For sentimental reasons, I would hate for any of the Big Three to get traded but they are mostly past it.
How’s that for rambling?

Doc is the problem in my book. Why in the hell play JO for the WHOLE game? JO even admitted that he thinks offense ain’t his job. With that attitude, the only time this team should use JO is to get some defensive stops maybe late in a game. This is coming from a guy who loved watching JO at Indiana and always thought he was one step away from being a champion. But this is 2012, it’s a NEW ERA. The big 3 and JO, minus Pierce should be getting reduced minutes and this team should look at developing AB, GS and JJ as a first unit. RR did not become an ALLSTAR over night, it was a constant process. It makes mad how Doc is just letting another game slip away because he doesn’t have enough faith in the youth and wants to run the same tired offense. Does anybody remember when Bynum dunked on Shaq? Now look at what kind of player he is. Two time NBA champion and an ALL STAR to boot. That would never have happened if Phil did not give him minutes. Maybe Doc should take a page out of Phil’s book. The C’s were winning earlier this season when they were giving the youth decent minutes? What the hell is going on Doc? Get your s–t together Celtics.

If any trade were to go down, I’d say RA. Him running double screens down under the basket isn’t working as well as it used to, evidenced when he gets the pass and passes it back. Rondo, just like everyone else, is frustrate by the fact that most of the C’s can’t create their own shot. Whether that’s mid-season complacency, fatigue, or whatever, it’s what we’re seeing right now. So if Ainge were to make a trade, if it invlolved getting some youth at the 2 guard position, maybe team chemistry wouldn’t be affected too much. I still don’t want Ainge to shake up the roster seeing as we still have half a season to right the ship.
