Thunder 119, Celtics 104: Thank you, All-Star break

On the positive side:

  • the Avery Bradley dunk, shown above
  • points, lots of points, even for the Celtics
  • the century mark!!!
  • the Celtics didn’t lay down and roll over, so there’s that
  • Kevin Garnett: 23 and 13, 8-11 shooting, eight trips (!) to the free throw line
  • THE ALL-STAR BREAK IS MERCIFULLY UPON US!!!

On the negative side:

  • Rajon Rondo gets to see Kendrick Perkins on his birthday — can I get a collective “awwww”?
  • the Celtics allowed six dozen points in the first half
  • that makes five straight losses
  • ugh

I still haven’t watched the game since I covered high school hoops tonight, but there will be plenty more to come once I actually see the bloodbath.

Didnt really get my hopes up before the game. But all the positive notes listed above give me a lot of hope for this team. We clawed our way out of embarrassment late in the game with a lot of key contributors plus our best player out. Thank the Lord we get a break and our first game is against the Cavs…while I think the trade deadline is still going to bother our guys after the break, I think they’ll come back with a chip the size of Massachusetts on their shoulders. Or at least they should.

At this point do we jus want to lose all the games so we can get in the LOTTERY?

Chillout dude it’s just a 5 game slide. Even the best teams go through them. It’s just that our season has been very very inconsistent.

I think you got that from the wrong angle, Greg. It’s not that we have been inconsistent. It’s that we are still struggling to find ourselves.

Basically, we are an energy team. If Doc can start substituting accordingly, and if Rondo and Pierce can find a way to mindmeld, we can still be fantastic.

We have a strong bench this year. It’s the front five that have been struggling to achieve an identity.

Listen Im not the only one who is asking this question? This draft is going to be filled with great players. Now ask yourself as a true fan, Do we have a chance at winning it all? I really dont think so, and Im just being honest!

I think we do have a chance to win it all if healthy. Our talent is better than 2008 and the core starters know what it takes (they are also famous light switch flippers come the playoffs when games matter). The Cs have never tanked a season and don’t play for the lottery. It’s not in their DNA. Go Cs…

Well at least there’s one thing we agree on James.

I’m so proud of you, Jay, that you managed to rip both Rondo and Perkins in one sentence. Nice one.

Bradley was amazing. If we keep Rondo, I am sold on him as a fantastic backup.

There really were a lot of positives in this game.

Hopefully, as hypersensitive Greggy said, Rondo and Paul will do some real talking over this weekend. If Rondo stays, our future depends on those two guys, who seem to have opposite personalities, somehow finding a way to communicate.

Too bad the ‘second half’ Celtics didn’t show up in the first half. Much better effort but then I think OKC was cruising in the 2nd half. Need to rebound better (gave up 10 offensive rebs) and had too many TOs and PFs but we also played without two starters and our best bench players (other than Bradley who played great and will be a great long-term back-up to RR). Instead of Dooling getting any minutes I say give them to E Moore and let him get experience. Dooling is a waste and is not much better than SP. Go Cs…rest up, get healthy and flip the switch when you come back.
