Rajon Rondo trade rumors: Rondo being ‘aggressively’ shopped, Stephen Curry could be target, according to ESPN

Rajon Rondo is being “aggressively” shopped by the Boston Celtics, according to ESPN’s Chris Broussard.

Boston is aggressively shopping Rondo, according to sources. The Celtics find Rondo’s personality to be too high-maintenance and his clashes with coach Doc Rivers continue. With the Celtics having realized they are no longer title contenders, they don’t believe the payoff is worth the headaches Rondo brings, sources say. And they do not want to build around him. In December, the Celtics had discussions with Golden State about a Stephen Curry-for-Rondo deal, and one source says it was Golden State that decided against pulling the trigger. But Curry’s recent ankle injuries, which have caused him several problems in his short career, have given the Celtics pause. The potential trade is still being discussed by Boston’s braintrust, but they aren’t sure they want to go forward with it. It also isn’t clear whether the Warriors would be willing to do it. Other players would have to be thrown in to make it work financially.

I remember reading about the Curry rumors back in December. I can’t find the link, so maybe I’m making this up, but I think the Celtics were recruiting Golden St. as a third team for a Chris Paul deal, in which Curry would have been included. At least when we heard the grumblings in December, I don’t think the Celtics were ever rumored to actually be targeting Curry themselves. Maybe they were. Maybe I’m wrong.

If the Celtics ARE shopping Rondo around the league, they’re doing it the wrong way. Letting everyone know that he’s a headache who isn’t worth his issues isn’t exactly raising his trade value. And if he does stay, it can’t help his morale. Poor Rondo is being treated like a Monopoly property. Is he really that difficult to deal with? He can’t be, right?

I remember the Curry rumor too, I believe.

Listen, I think we all need to understand that the rest of the league has Danny figured out. They know that once Danny gets a taste for a trade, he WILL make it. All they have to do is manipulate him into basically getting hosed by them. They reel him in like a nice, big fish.

So yeah, someone is going to get Rondo for not a lot.

And you know what? Talented players are almost always difficult. The more talented they are, the more difficult they are likely to be. These are guys with enormous amounts of pride. It takes that to do what they do. I don’t care if Rondo is difficult. I care that it will not be easy for us to find another player with as much talent as Rondo.

I think Doc is lazy. He basically wants to coach part time and get paid full time. Of course, from that point of view, Rondo really is too much trouble.

Now. Go a little deeper people. What is the deeper reason that Rondo is being demonized and portrayed as the bad guy by the Celtics (and please, don’t try to convince yourself that Danny has no hand in all these rumors and leaks)?

Think about it. Everything has fallen apart for the Celtics since The Trade. If you were Ainge, and you had the lack of scruple that Ainge seems to have, wouldn’t you be trying to find some nice big target to scapegoat?

      Enter Rondo…

I couldn’t agree more with what you said. In addition, now if a trade takes place in the next couple of weeks, the excuse will be “Chemistry”. Doc always says we cant complain about the season everyone is going through the same thing, yet every interview he is complaining about health the schedule and now RONDO ! Go Cs

Wow, how in the world is this supposed to help our fucking team? I hate distractions. This is nothing but negativity and rondo DOES NOT DESERVE THIS. I’m slowly starting to agree with Paul, rondo might even WANT to leave at this point. He’s being treated like he isn’t our best player. Screw Ainge.

This is B.S. There is no way GS trades Curry as they really love him. They would trade Monte Ellis, which has been discussed out here (CA) before Curry so this to me is just more crap trade rumors. I do not believe RR will be traded. He’s the only player on this team to build around. Go Cs…

listen the curry trade was simply a manuver to get the all talented CP3
The celtics flip curry and rondo, but then curry and Paul, Boston would only be a stopover

Rondo made me a Celtics fan. The problem is Rondo plays better full court and he’s on a half court based team. If he had players that would run with him his assist and steals numbers would go up. The big thing is the Lakers deal. I hate Kobe but Rondo makes them a championship contender and a leader for Howard. I think it would be an easy sell of Kobe-Rondo-Howard.

Can’t run if they don’t rebound (which they did tonight). And the playoffs are always half-court offense as teams increase their defense. If we rebound like tonight and stay healthy then the team will gel and be ready for a title run. Go Cs…

What a krok. There is no way that Curry has the value of Rondo. Get real people. Hey we can alwayz trade him for a bag of chips. As long as they can put up the numbers Rondo does.

You know what? I’m tired of the constant rants about Rondo’s character. You want to see a player who has character issues? Look at the UCLA basketball team.
