Rajon Rondo trade rumors: Boston Celtics reportedly ‘listening to offers,’ not dumping Rondo

An ESPN.com report yesterday painted an image of Danny Ainge throwing a burlap bag over Rajon Rondo’s head and forcefully shoving him out of the Boston Celtics locker room, but the Boston Globe reports today that the Celtics are not in fact trying to dump Rondo.
An ESPN.com report said the Celtics have decided to trade Rondo after his attitude and personality have become too burdensome for the organization. An NBA source told the Globe the Celtics aren’t trying to dump Rondo but his name is being mentioned in deals, similar to the way it was when the team made a play for Chris Paul in December.
Dumping Rondo doesn’t make any sense unless he’s a miserable curmudgeon of a man who verbally berates waitresses, eats small children for breakfast and sometimes forces his teammates to watch the Twilight saga. I doubt he’s that bad. And despite his occasional inconsistency, he’s still among the handful of best point guards in the world, and he still has one of the NBA’s most reasonable contracts. I hope Danny Ainge doesn’t do anything irrational. All these crazy Rondo rumors scare me, and worse, they’ve been happening for three years.

Anyone can start a rumor and Broussard is one of the best at generating ‘copy’ so he has something to chat about. Otherwise he doesn’t have a job. This is b.s. and there’s no trade available that would get equal value back. Go Cs…

Chris Broussard, like many so-called “analysts” at espn, are paid to create rumors where none exist, and root for the fan favorite teams to win. I for one do not take anything he says seriously. He hates the C’s, and always talks down about them. So screw him, ESPN, and anyone else who roots against anyone but the fan favorites. And what’s wrong with the Twilight saga Tommy? Haha KIDDING.

Right. Except that Danny HAS been shopping Rondo. Why do you want to stick up for that jerk so hard?

You know what’s wierd though? That nobody, absolutely NOBODY is backing Rondo in the media at least. I know KG held a team meeting a few days ago, so maybe they brought it up then. I think Rondo is more of the type to keep it in the family per se. But anyway, why is it that no one is dismissing all this bs? Ainge, Doc, the team? I mean they are but they aren’t. And I don’t know why. I mean, Josh Smith is the only person I’ve heard so far that’s defended Rondo thoroughly. That’s not a good look for management. But again, maybe it’s being talked about internally, who knows. All I know is I’m more than content with our PG and our team right now.

Absoluteley agreed. What is all this “Ubuntu” crap if they don’t even back up the starting point guard of the team? Ridiculous. I wouldn’t expect it from Ainge though, but you would think this should be dismissed by somebody…

Agreed. The players need to speak out like Kobe did for Gasol. Mgmt. can’t as they need to always be exploring ways to improve the team and therefore can’t say anyone is untouchable or not being talked about. Better for DA to say nothing unless he says they are not ‘shopping’ RR. We’ll know in two weeks but my guess and hope is RR is a Celtic for years to come. Go Cs…

No, that’s wrong, James. Management can and should make it clear that some people are untouchable, or nearly so.
And please, I know you worship Danny, but wake up. These rumors wouldn’t be flying if Danny weren’t feeding them.
And why is no one stepping up to defend Rondo, as Greg pointed out? In fact, they are all going out of their way to throw him under the bus. Even KG last night made a big issue of how inconsistent Rondo is. Sure, we do all want him to be more consistent, but what kind of crap is that? KG hasn’t been consistent. In fact, Rondo has been our most consistently excellent player this year, despite his notorious inconsistency.
And why are the media ganging up on Rondo?
Think about it. It’s because the word is out, long since, that Rondo is gone.

You have an inside to DA’s brain and thoughts paul??? I don’t think you do ergo your comments about DA’s thinking, motives, et al are nothing more than ANOTHER DUMB RUMOR. See you just feed the beast that you rail against all the time by doing exactly what you accuse the media and DA of doing. Nice rumor, paul but like these other’s it’s b.s. too. Go Cs…

I love how Danny says “I’m not shopping Rondo around. I’m just doing what I was doing back when I was desperately shopping Rondo around the league”.
I swear, what a freaking piece of work he is.

Also, I know that Murphy in the Herald quote Danny as saying that he hasn’t made any calls mentioning Danny since the Chris Paul Rondo auction, and that he anticipates Rondo being in Boston a long time.
Two points: Danny is now well known as a chronic liar,
Danny’s words are very carefully chosen. Think about how weak a formulation the word “anticipate” provides for. That’s a clever one Danny. Think too about Danny’s declaration that, basically, he doesn’t shop people. He just listens to phone calls. Listening to Danny is exactly like listening to a pol.
And again, he’s a well known liar.
Also, remember how he talked about there being little likelihood of any major moves last year before the trade deadline? We know now that he was killing himself to trade Perkins.
Sadly, Rondo is gone. I just hope he kills it big time during his last few games as a Celtic, and goes on an eff you farewell tour win streak…
